I 1864 date and signature

Hi I am trying to fill the i1864 but stuck in date and signature part. I have seen some posts saying they got RFE for having the signature with wet ink and date printed.

Do we have to write with pen both signature and date? Or we have to sign with pen and date can be typed. I don’t know if I am confused or over worried.
Any advice are appreciated.

Thank you .

That would be the safest approach -- hand-write signature and date.

Thank you for the reply. I am seeing the post getting RFE for the wet ink signature and  electronic typed date. So was little worried about it. I might just hand print the signature and date.

You are referencing an archived article.  Hand-written signature is required.  It's explicitly stated in the I-864 form instructions -- https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/forms/i-864instr.pdf

What's not required is a "wet" signature at the time of interview.  This simply means that the I-864 to be brought to the interview can be a print-out of the scanned I-864 uploaded to CEAC.

You may either: (1) wait for case FE note from NVC and address it then, or (2) proactively update the I-864 with handwritten signature and date.  Note that option 2 will likely reset your submission date, as I-864 is a basic requirement.

Followed up on this, I used Adobe electronic signature and my document is now qualified. FYI

Good for you.  Good luck at the consulate.

For others reading this thread, do NOT use digital signature on the I-864.  Hand-write the signature and date on the form, then scan and upload to CEAC.
