Able to has never meant eligible to.

That's what if applicable means in the instructions.

I appreciate your perspective.  The I-864 also can't be filed online, but in the RFE part of the website, it specifically has a field you can select stating you are uploading an I-864.  We all agree that both the original I-485 and I-864 can't be filed online originally.  The question is whether they both can be uploaded in response to an RFE.  I appreciate your input as I'm not certain.

Agreed, if instructions don't mention uploading evidence, it's a 50/50 chance IO will even take anything uploaded into consideration.

IMHO if in doubt do both: upload and mail it with certified mail. At least you will have proof of replying to RFE. Upload doesn't give any proof of you submitting evidence AFAIK. IT systems can "lose" anything uploaded easily.

Does USCIS have a problem with such "duplicate submissions?"

Thanks for your response.  Did you actually get an RFE in response to your original I-485--and did you upload a new I-485 in response to that RFE?

You’re welcome. I actually had answered a question on the form incorrectly and uploaded under the “unsolicited evidence” my correct answer. I cannot recall the question number but it was very apparent in hindsight I had answered incorrectly.

No RFE at all for my I-485, just my husband’s petition, the I-130.
