What is that?

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

Interesting.   I recently travelled with my adult sons, and the eldest had something like that happen.   Seemed totally random.

SSSS would typically happen at the departure airport though, and it's a TSA thing - at least in the US. It sounded like OP got the treatment by CBP on arrival in US, in which case it is not related to SSSS unless you pass through security again for a connection.

That confused me, after all they are not French

What is that?

@kpelo See SSSS boarding pass

https://thepointsguy.com/news/ssss-on-boarding-pass/

Or

https://www.forbes.com/advisor/credit-cards/travel-rewards/ssss-boarding-pass/#:~:text=If you see the SSSS,luggage swab tested for explosives

Does anyone know what percent of boarding passes get the SSSS?

Or what percent of travellers get selected for random secondary checks?

I can't seem to find any data or statistics on those? Or are those numbers CBP confidential?

Closest numbers I found are for CBP inadmissible at

https://trac.syr.edu/immigration/reports/692/

3 million were inadmissible over the last 10 years.

Top countries for inadmissible are Mexico, Philippines, and Canada.

If anyone can find better numbers or data, please post. Thanks in advance.
