Hi Everyone

Well I have myself in a little bit of a pickle, we are travelling home in 2 weeks which is very exciting, however when my husband booked the tix for me (he was being very organized, bless) he booked them in my married name - not my maiden name.

Now we have spoken to the airlines and they said that they do not have a problem but immigration might - I have the following evidence

In maiden name:

Passport, Australian ID, Birth certificate

In married name:

Original marraige certificate, EAD card and MN State ID, Advance Parole Docs

What do you think, can I make it? Does anyone have any experience?

Thanks

its not a problem. just bring your marriage certificate

happy trip

Sorry.. but your tickets MUST be in the name that is on the ID page in your passport. You're going to have to call the airline and have the name on the tickets changed. Or alternatively, you can try to get a new passport in your married name before you have to leave.

When you come back home you will still need the marriage cert as your documents that allow you to enter the US will be in your married name, but your passport will be in your maiden name...

I'm suprised the airline told you that producing the marriage licence for the tickets was okay. We'll be leaving the country soon and were told in no uncertain terms by the airline that the ticket and passport names MUST match, if not they will not let you board. So now my passport is at the US embassy in DC getting changed and hopefully it will arrive back here in time!!

I would double check with the airline, wouldnt want you to get to the airport and then have a problem.

Good Luck

you should be able to call the airlines and have them change the name on the airline, if it's an e-ticket. I had to do that with my mother-in-law.

Call the airline immediately and ask if you can have your name properly changed for the ticket. Unless they are willing to give you a written guarantee that they will let you board with the difference in names, I would definitely want the ticket name to match the passport name. It shouldn't be too much hassle if you've got a reasonable airline, and keep escalating if you don't get a satisfactory answer.

You must fix this Now.... the couple infront of us at checkin on a flight from Boston to Toronto were refused boarding as her name on the ticket was her new married name (they were married 4 hours before the flight, New husband had booked it in her married name) and her US passport was in her maiden name.... they did not fly..
