California is clearing homeless camps more often and not everyone is happy

Explosion at large encampment near Seattle hospital may have been targeted attack

 

A homeless encampment that exploded and burned outside Harborview Medical Center in Seattle on Friday is being investigated as a targeted attack. The encampment is also being rebuilt in the exact same spot as of Monday, just days after the initial blaze. 

 

Located within 200 feet of the hospital's main entrance, the encampment erupted into flames early Friday morning with explosions visible from traffic camera video of the fire. 

On Monday, a new tent had been set up in the ashes of the fire, as well as what appears to be a video surveillance system attached to a tree to monitor the front of the tent.

San Francisco Shop Owner Attacked Outside Store Slams Crime-Ridden City

 

A frustrated San Francisco shop owner has gained a lot of sympathy on social media after complaining about being punched in the face by a man urinating on his trash can.

 

Peterson Harter, the co-owner of a New Orleans-style sandwich shop called Sandy's in the neighborhood of Haight-Ashbury, published a video on Instagram on Wednesday where he explained he had been assaulted while closing the security gates of his business.

 

"I just got punched in the face by a guy that was pissing on the street...I can't believe I live in a city where people can just piss in the street and punch you in the f****** face and get away with it," Harter, with a black eye, said in the video. He added that he was "fed up" with the city.

The inevitable response.  Now this is progress.  I suspect soft-on-crime Bragg (or the prosecutor where it happened as it was not clear if in Manhattan or another borough) will prosecute these two to the fullest extent of the law.

Multnomah County, where Portland, Oregon, is located, reportedly lost more than $1 billion in income between 2020 and 2021 as a result of residents fleeing the state amid surging crime, homelessness and safety concerns.

 

Data analysis conducted by Oregon Live showed that 14,257 tax filers and their dependents left Multnomah County during the first year of the pandemic in 2020 and took a record $1 billion of income with them.

 

The data showed that higher earners were more likely to leave since their jobs could be done remotely during coronavirus shutdowns, and the average income of people leaving was 14% higher than people who left the year before.
