The fees will increase by 130% according to this source: https://citizenpath.com/uscis-fee-increase/

The agency’s new immigration fee schedule intends to return to a model of charging separate fees for Forms I-485, I-765, and I-131. Unfortunately, this move drastically increases the cost for individuals to adjust status to permanent resident. Instead of paying $1,225 to file Forms I-485, I-765 and I-131, most family-based applicants will be forced to pay $2,820. That’s a 130 percent increase. It affects many U.S. citizens. A large percentage of adjustment cases are for the foreign national spouses of U.S. citizens.

So instead of $3400, if you choose to delay, you are potentially looking at $8000+ to file their AOS, plus the small chance that if law enforcement wants to see evidence of the kids' legal status in the US, they won't have any.

+1 to that.

@BOKURAGAITA by delaying AOS you can potentially expect:

- Higher filing fees in the future

- Legal fees, as this may not be DIY in the future

- More stress, more wait and uncertainty

So if you can sacrifice something else to file this on time, you probably should

I don't know exactly

It is odd that you have internet access and do not know your location.

Do you know what state you are in?

Holland, Michigan.

Michigan is a border state, but lower Michigan where you live borders Canada along metro Detroit, where the Border Patrol (BP) operates. The Border Patrol does not appear operate where you live. Stay west of Kalamazoo.

I do not know if the Port of Holland accepts international freight, but assume it does, and thus assume CBP patrols the port.  Thus your children should avoid the water front. Avoid Amtrak stations, inter city bus terminals, and international airports.

Finally, Michigan is surprisingly not a sanctuary state. This means that if local or state  law enforcement officer encounters your children and has reason to believe your children do have authorized presence, they can be detained for ICE to investigate.  Thus you should minimize encounters with local law enforcement.

K-2  visas put  children in precarious positions, and K-1 parents should be certain  petitioners have the financial resources to complete their process before bringing them to the U.S.  IR-2 is the best visa for a child.

Great point, hadn't thought of that before.  I have a feeling with the upcoming fee hikes, we will see more threads like this.
