Philippines passport renewal

Greetings all,

I have a few questions about renewing the Philippines passport at the Philippines embassy, Washington D.C.

1) When renewing passport, I assume the default is e-passport?

https://philippineembassy-dc.org/new-e-passport-applicant-adult/

2) My Filipina spouse filed for the I-485 AOS with the marriage name using the marriage certificate and her old Philippines passport (maiden name), which will expire in a few years. In renewing the Philippines passport to the marriage name, is there any USCIS paperwork that needs updating so when we file later for the I-751 or N-400 there won't be any confusion?

3) Is there any advantage to renewing the Philippines passport sooner rather than later to the marriage name? Like easier to pass through airports? Less CFO hassles?

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Did you file the Report of Marriage with Philippine Embassy?   (assuming you married in Georgia???)  They won't change the name on her passport until you complete that and it may take a bit of time.

If she applied for AOS with her married name she should be all good with USCIS.  Presumably her green card should be in her married name and SS card, state ID and everything else will be easy.  If she has changed her name it's best to go all in on it sooner rather than later to avoid confusing anyone.  But for the Philippine government the Report of Marriage is the central keystone of all things related to married names of overseas marriages.

I think ALL Philippine passports are e-passports for quite a few years already.

Yes. We filed the Report Of Marriage with the Philippines embassy already. We are waiting for the processing and after which we can order copies from the Philippines Statistics Authority.

My concern is that since USCIS has her maiden name passport number and expiry, is there any paperwork we need to file to update with the new passport with USCIS?

Also do Filipinas have to renew the CFO with the new passport? Or when do Filipinas not need to register for CFO anymore?

Thanks for any response.

She has no need for CFO once she has a green card.  That issue is permanently put to rest.  If she shows a US green card at NAIA she's all good to go.  USCIS doesn't care if she changes her passport.  They are keeping track of her by green card not her passport.

Do you know if the Filipina that has the EAD/AP combo card needs to renew the CFO to leave the Philippines after visiting? Thanks

CFO does not need to be renewed.

A Filipina only has to do it once in her life—when she leaves the Philippines as an immigrant traveler for the very first time. It doesn't matter if she is traveling on an EAD/AP combo card.

There is such a thing as CFO re-issuance/revalidation, ie if someone changed partners, or changed from OFW to foreign partner, or changed from emigrating to Canada to emigrating to US or something.  https://cfo.gov.ph/re-issuance-revalidation-and-amendment-with-gcp/  (link probably geoblocked in the US and doesn't matter for US Green Card holders)
