I-130 approved, but USCIS wants I-824

Hi. Hoping someone had this problem before.

I got approval for I-130, but the letter said that I didn't pick either adjust within the USA vs Embassy.

I looked back at my electonic I-130 and I put "unknown" on the question of which embassy to get interview. The reason for this is that the Iraqi Embassy in Baghdad has been closed for years. All the Iraqis get transferred to another Embassy and it is impossible for me to know which Embassy it will go to. Also, I listed his address as IN BAGHDAD. So, he obviously is not in the USA.

I tried to talk to USCIS, howver, they just disconnect chat and wont help. I tired to call USCIS and it threatens to hang up if I ask for live agent. I tried to call NVC and they dont even answer phone anymore, just message that says we do everything via email now.

Any suggestions? Try USCIS live chat again and see if they can send it to NVC?

This kinda feels like another way to make immigration longer

Unfortunately, that has added up to one year to your process.

“Infopass” is not a work-around.

You will have to file the I-824, like Powerpuff said.

Call costumer service and say "Infopass".

I think maybe this is their way of saying a word that will get the computer to allow u to talk to a person rather than threatening to hang up if you keep asking for a live agent.

Unfortunately, filing the I-824 will delay the case as much as a year...and it will cost $465.00.  I have seen this 3 times in the last 6 months.

Right.   And I’m saying that a live agent will not be able to do anything except confirm that the OP needs to submit the form as stated in the RFE.

This seems to be a recent issue.  I have seen this come up within the last year, but not before that.  I wonder if USCIS is getting more stringent with how the form is filled, or if there is something with the online forms that forces USCIS to assume AOS if both sections are filled or both sections are left blank.

Regardless, for the OP, the only option seems to be to file the I-824.

Seems to be in the same vein as rejecting outright "place holder" petitions that are submitted while incomplete, in order to get in the queue.

I’m getting ready to submit an I-130 application for Baghdad. Where you able to get pass submitting the I-824. Could these been prevented if you added Erbil or another embassy on the application?

Just put Baghdad. It just opened again. If it closes again before your I-130 is approved, then it will be sent to one of three countries that have agreed to take Iraqi citizens.
FYI.  Erbil does non immigrant visas only.

Were you asked for Surat Qayd? Not sure exactly what is needed. Never heard of it.
