Questions re: 5 year N400 currently going thru divorce!

I’ve been stressing about this so I’m just going to put this out here hoping someone has had a similar scenario and can advise. Been a Permanent Resident since 7/19/2018 via marriage to US Citizen.

Filed for divorce since last year but it is still in court and our divorce hasn’t moved anywhere. I’m guessing I’ll become eligible to file for citizenship on April 20th based on 5 years. Is this accurate?

Also, Would it be a problem to file while divorce is still in court? It says somewhere that if ever married, to send proof the marriage ended but I don’t have that yet. Do I have to wait until the divorce is over before filing or is that irrelevant to my situation and to just go ahead with the filing?

I’ll really appreciate your advice. Thanks in advance.

It is fine if you disclose that the divorce is in progress. If the divorce finalizes before the interview, bring the divorce decree and a copy. If it finalizes between the interview and oath, bring the divorce decree and a copy, and prepare for oath to be re-scheduled and a new interview.

Personally, I waited until after my divorce was final.

Ok, thank you. I like your idea of just filing and depending on when divorce is final, taking the divorce decree and copy to interview or oath. I don’t wanna wait another year before filing as I can’t guess when the divorce would be final. Thanks once again!
