I need help ASAP! RFE

I received an RFE yesterday stating that my marriage certificate didn’t meet country requirements. However the original marriage certificate has everything they’re asking about. It was prepared by the adoul, it has all the required signatures and judges stamp and signature. I also have the English translation! They said it needed to be an Aakd Zawaj?? I’m feeling so stressed can someone help me?

If you were married in Morocco, an Aakd Zawaj (Acte de Mariage) is the required marriage document for spouse visa application, as per -- https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/Morocco.html

If you were married in Morocco, an Aakd Zawaj (Acte de Mariage) is the required marriage document for spouse visa application, as per -- https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/Morocco.html

 

That is what I have. So the translator didn’t put part about it being a sworn translation and him being competent on the English version. I’m wondering if that’s an issue as well. I ordered a new translation online as well.

Very likely that's the issue as it is a requirement for a translation: the translator must sign a certification that the English language translation is complete and accurate, and that he or she is competent to translate from the foreign language into English.

Any idea how to fix this? Can I pay for the certification here or does it have to be in Morocco?

Anywhere.

You don't even need to pay a company to do so. A friend, relative or even you can translate if them/ you are fluent. 

 

Now, if you already paid someone to do the translation, they should fix it for free.

Omg. Apparently my lawyer had already submitted the RFE info without this. Now I’m freaking out.

What?!

 

Did the lawyer made a copy of the RFE? Was the case filed online? 

Did the lawyer send the exact same original and translation as before?

Yes it was online and she responded to it With our original documents. I’m just worried about the translation not having the certification. I’m so stressed

Well, if it was online, then the lawyer uploaded the files. 

Just tell her to get a translation WITH the certification and upload it.

you need the certified copy (raised stamp ) from Rabat  that the judge sends to Office of Foreign Minister

marriage needs to be registered by the court (not just signed by the judge who presided and  filled out the paperwork)

tell your husband he needs to travel to Rabat and pick it up  (get at least 2 copies so u have one to keep)

 

Spouses must submit a copy of the civil marriage certificate to the Moroccan consular  services in the place of establishment of the marriage certificate or the place of residence of  the spouses. In the absence of consular services, a copy of the marriage certificate is sent to  the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (Directorate of Consular and  Social Affairs). The Ministry then sends the copy to the civil registrar and the family justice  section to the place of birth of each spouse. If the spouses or one of them are not born in  Morocco, the copy is sent to the family justice section of Rabat and to the Prosecutor at the  court of first instance in Rabat.
In case the civil marriage certificate does not mention the two Muslim witnesses, an additive act, called "Ishhad Moulhaq" (Annexation Witness), must be established by the Adouls at the consular services and annexed to the said marriage certificate before being sent to the Moroccan authorities.

BTW you should not have the document the judge signed /that is kept in Rabat in Morocco's records 

if u have it ,,  the marriage was not registered properly

they will want to see the original at the interview and it must match the one u send to NVC /  if it doesn't , there will be AP like the Philly man was in so he could get matching ones

This happened to us too (my husband is from Morocco also). Ours said that it wasn't signed by a judge, but it WAS signed by a judge. We got a new translation for it from a US based company using a "USCIS guaranteed" agency - I think it was $20 and had a 24 hour turnaround time. We submitted that and our case was approved 2 weeks later. I think the bigger problem is your lawyer just doing whatever and not consulting you with feedback/etc.

My husband and I both got a copy of our marriage certificate signed by the judge. Ours was registered properly and he has been here over 4 years.

We had a different translation at USCIS, with the RFE, and at his interview and all was fine.
