I believe he can get it once his work permit is approved (not 100% sure though). I took Moh to the SS office when I changed my name and asked just to see if his name was in the system. The man told us it was but they couldn't issue it until he got a certain application approved (he wrote down the numbers but they're at home now).

anyone know how long it will take to get the SSN #?? this is the lastest question...

LOL.. I told him I didnt know.. His response?? "Then why are you talking to all those woman on line..?!" meaning VJ.. hhaaahhaaa

Adnan doesnt really like Mexican either, a great disappointment to me as I think I could eat it 3 times a day. we have found some places and dishes he likes well enough so at least we get to go sometimes.

And Julianna, I wouldnt take irritability as a sign of not being pregnant, I've been irritable for 7 months now! Pregnancy is like one long bout of PMS! But good luck if you are trying, seems like there are a lot of us MENA ladies expecting so maybe that bodes well for you too!

thats why i really want abdou to like mexican. i could eat it everyday and want him to come along and enjoy it with me! my best friend hates it too (and she and i even spent months in mexico together. lets just say she ate cheese quesadillas a lot. lol)

julianna - i wouldn't worry! it definitely sounds possible! time to get a test ready!!!!!!!!!! :D

For K-3 visa holders SS wants either the EAD or the Green CArd before issuing a soccial security number.

Once he applies for it the SS card should be issued within weeks (much the same as when you change your name or apply for one for your kids).

I want some caffeine! Ahhhhh! :) But anyway, good to know Sarah!

Dee-- as far as my experience with teh SS#-- it took about 7 days to get the number, but 2.5 weeks to get the card. We happened to stop in on the day it was issued in teh system and they could tell us what it was and give us a print out. But my husband was CR-1 and so had work auth. already.

Moody!!!!!!!!!! I have a GF grill and I love it! What do you season your fajitas with?

Jen-- I hope so! yay! But this wait is killing me. Also? I don't like guac and salsa LOL! But I do like the chips, so we're good.

None of my posts have ever been helpful. Be forewarned.

I season the chicken with Lawry's seasoning salt, garlic powder and black pepper (I also use the chicken in salads). I tried fajita seasoning from the store but something in it made the chicken stick to the grill. I love my GF cuz I can stick boneless/skinless breasts on it and it's done in like 10 mins! Cooks both sides at once, another bonus!

Haha! Plastic surgery! Of course! I'll get right on that :) I usually hide it in the style but I want bangs and am facing the reality that it cannot happen. I can never have bangs. Sigh.

(an even better image is to imagine waxing my cowlick spot. it's about an inch on my forehead. That would be awesome-- a chunk out of my hairline. Haha!

Yeah, I head a chuckle about the whole plastic surgery bit.

Can you wear a head band or something to control it?

Thanks for the info! I love my GF grill because I can grill veggies (finally) and even Ammar will eat them! The man who wants bread and meat only for every meal! Yes!! (I am working on his eating habits.)

Well it's not a problem except for that I want to have bangs and I just can't have them with it. I have the same cowlick as Gwyneth Paltrow and we hide ours the exact same way. We just style it in as the "part." Oh well! I figure if she and her millions haven't fixed hers, then probably little hope (beyond plastic surgery LOLOLOLOL) for mine :)

Mexican is a big hit in our house too. So far I've made chicken, beef, and shrimp fajitas, beef tacos, enchiladas, chimichangas, and homemade salsa/guacamole. My husband likes soft tortillas a lot more than the fried crispy ones. So do I, so it works out fine.

Indian food is also HUGE. We eat a lot of indian food.

Some other big hits were shepherd's pie (my recipe is really plain), homemade chicken pot pie, chicken parmesan, linguine alfredo w/ chicken or shrimp, homemade pizza, beef stroganoff, arroz con pollo, steak au poivre, chili, southwestern egg rolls, etc etc.

I've realized that he likes anything saucey, cheesey, or bready.

And anything that has chocolate.

Sereia - It's great to see that you've come up for air! As MBP said...you have made the right choice, being us or Abdou!

I'm breathing a -SIGH- of relief. My hubby and his brother have gone to Kaula Lampour. And I've been stressing to find out if they got there safely. Just got an email from Hicham that they are they in one piece!!!!

I can't freak'in believe that he can travel all over the world...but just can't come home to us!!! AGH!!!!!
