 Sounds like me, too. Moh will run to grab the phone but I just let it ring. If it's important they'll leave a message. :D

Anyone else's husband make them want to punch a pillow over and over until your wrist may hurt kind of bad because he refuses to ever answer the phone? Ever? Even when he's a foot away from it and you're trying to cook and are loaded down and hands have raw meat on them and he still makes you answer it because "he doesn't want to talk to anyone?" #######?

 Actually, that sounds a lot like me! I hate the phone!

Ummm maybe. But you can't prove that I should be working.

Sigh.

Getting irratable and that probably means non-success on the baby front since it's pretty indicative of PMS. Now I'm irritated again.

Anyone know how to tame a cowlick? (how's that for random?)

geeze it seems to be going around.. lol.. Is something in the water?!

and the cowlick... Wet it.. Blow dry it.. maybe some gel?

Okay, I went to see if I could find some info on cowlicks...well, here you go...

Knowledge Is Power Over Cowlicks

A thorough understanding of all the available styling techniques and hair care options for cowlicks should help you make confident decisions about how to deal with hair problem.

A cowlick can definitely be managed. There are many options for dealing with the dreaded wild hair. While some of the drastic options include plastic surgery, electrolysis and waxing, other options include corrective hair styling and use of styling aides to help tame the crazy hair.

There are many circumstances that should guide your selection of the appropriate option for dealing with your cowlick. If your image is integral to your career, you may want to consider drastic measures.

If your cowlick can be tamed with the right hairstyle, styling tools or hair accessories, consider these as good options involving minimal hassle.

Once the dynamics of your own particular cowlick is understood you can select a treatment option that will suite your needs and allow you to adjust to the ongoing challenges of your hair

A Good Stylist Can Help You Tame The Wild Hairs

If waxing, electrolysis or surgery doesn't appeal to you. There are still several other options you can consider.

If your cowlick is well placed on your head all that is you may need is a good haircut to work with the direction of the hair or add weight from hair above to hold the cowlick down.

A great stylist can custom design a haircut that can camouflage your cowlick by working it into your overall style and look.

Thick, wavy and curly hair can be managed with well placed short layers that incorporate the cowlick or other unruly sections into the overall style.

Some chemical treatments such as perms or relaxing treatments will also help tame cowlicks.

Products That Help Tame Cowlicks Temporarily

Another option for cowlicks is to utilize styling aides to alter the hair's appearance.

Most hair creams, greases or pomades with good hold can work wonders on most stubborn hair tufts.

Apply the styling product of choice to the root area around the cowlick and then use your fingers or a pick to redirect the cowlick. The styling product will help to hold the cowlick in place. Just remember, a little bit goes a very long way.

Summary

Are cowlicks the end of your hair world? They don't need to be.

There are many options for dealing with the dreaded wild hairs. While some of the options are drastic and include plastic surgery and electrolysis, other options include waxing, corrective hair cutting and styling and use of styling aides to help tame the crazy hair.

With the right hairstyle and tools you may even come to enjoy your cowlick. Who knows, anything can happen.

J, I don't mean to make light of your cowlick...but that's some pretty funny reading.

I get calls from work since I'm kinds of in charge (scary for them haha) and I am the only one who can answer the questions. So I have to answer but I have caller ID and he knows it. i'll ask him when it's ringing who it is, and even if it's my parents he won't answer saying his english is bad. So then i have to call everyone back and it's a pain in the A$$. I told him all he has to do is say hello, then say hold on, and bring me the phone. If he expects me to make turkey burgers, then he should answer the phone. It's a fair trade IMO. Most of the time he won't even tell me who is on the caller ID either, saying he is "busy" (checking his email.).

Dee-- it defied those kinds of treatments and even defines flat-ironing. Sigh.

None of my posts have ever been helpful. Be forewarned.

Haha! Plastic surgery! Of course! I'll get right on that :) I usually hide it in the style but I want bangs and am facing the reality that it cannot happen. I can never have bangs. Sigh.

(an even better image is to imagine waxing my cowlick spot. it's about an inch on my forehead. That would be awesome-- a chunk out of my hairline. Haha!

gooooooood morning everyone! things are good here! its tough peeling myself away from abdou to get online for some "me" time. right now he's still asleep so its easy for me to get here! :D we've been having fun! hitting the beach, swimming in the pool, going to parks, i showed him our local mall and he bought some clothes (his bag is STILL MISSING! #######!?!?!?! damn jetblue!) and yesterday we went up to LA to visit some friends of mine who are in an intercultural/interfaith marriage of 31 years (jewish woman- moroccan man) abdou wasn't thrilled about going (he's been nervous to meet people and is tired of sitting in the car so much (welcome to california!!!)) but once he was there he loved having someone to talk to in arabic and the man gave him a lot of advice (and apparently all secrets he couldn't tell me. lol) he left feeling revived and a lot happier. these people have really set a good example for me and i hope to model our relationship after them in a lot of ways. :D

abdou has tried lots of hamburger places, pizza, mexican, and sushi. i was so happy he LOVED the sushi (its one of my favorite meals)! but disappointed he didn't like the mexican. i'm hoping he'll be open to going to another mexican and trying a different style. *crosses fingers!

i hope everyone here has been doing great!!!!!!! time to get back to cuddling :D

Haha Dee!

no he tried fish tacos and a torta. the torta was too spicy for him. it was loaded with jalapenos and those spicy pickled carrots.

i think he would like fajitas too. carne asada. stuff like that. definitely next time! and who doesn't like chips and salsa? and guacamole?! :D

I wonder if I can get Mohamed into eating Sushi... he wouldnt touch it when I got it in Egypt.. But he does LOVE fish.. and if I work in the "health for you" / halal.. maybe it will do the trick

thats exactly the spin i gave it. he loves healthy food and i kept saying "its raw fish! its so healthy!" he was in heaven!!!! his eyes were practically rolling back in his head when he tried a certain few of them. tell mohamed you're taking him somewhere for dinner and surprise him! its hard to describe to people without them thinking, "ewwww raw fish with seaweed?!" ;)

Moh LOVES fajitas! Esp. the chicken fajitas I make at home with my handy dandy George Forman. :) Chicken fajitas and good ole American pot roast with pots and carrots are his favorites.

Adnan doesnt really like Mexican either, a great disappointment to me as I think I could eat it 3 times a day. we have found some places and dishes he likes well enough so at least we get to go sometimes.

And Julianna, I wouldnt take irritability as a sign of not being pregnant, I've been irritable for 7 months now! Pregnancy is like one long bout of PMS! But good luck if you are trying, seems like there are a lot of us MENA ladies expecting so maybe that bodes well for you too!
