Case in Administrative Processing Why?

Good afternoon

My husband went for his interview last week he was prepared and had everything they asked for plus more. He got to the interview bright and early. The consular asked him around 5-6 questions but she was tricky and kept repeating back his answer but twisting what he said, nevertheless he said he was on his P's & Q's and he answered everything correctly.  She gave him a white paper and on the bottom, she wrote Administrative Processing.  He said he asked her politely if there was anything that was missing she stated no he had everything she needed and they will let him know his status.  She then took his passport and gave him the paper.  Since then we haven't heard anything the status of the visa was refused for a week then it was changed to Administrative Processing last week.  We are so confused and lost because we don't know what's happening.  Can anyone tell me what's going on? We waited over 2yrs just to get to this point now we're in Limbo.  We're very frustrated, to say the least mentally and emotionally exhausted! Has this happened to anyone before? It's going on 2 wks and we still don't know if he was approved or denied 😰

AP can take days to months depending on the case and the issues involved

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

I understand this, but why put some on AP and not tell them why? We never got an email stating anything we're back to square one it seems just waiting......It would be different if we knew something or if we missed some paperwork

Unfortunately, Nigeria is a high fraud country and even if the COs give a reason for AP sometimes it is not the real reason.

See this case from 2021

You will have to wait it out… but was your husband married before or does he have any children from a previous relationship?

AP in African countries usually means they check the validity of documents

According to a Canadian report

According to a report of the African Human Security Initiative published on the Website of the Institute for Security Studies (ISS), in theory, the systems in place in Nigeria to prevent forgeries of identification documents include a system of "barcode and watermarks" (n.d.). However, in practice, corruption has increased the availability of forgeries (ibid. n.d.).

Be glad they kept his passport as that is a good sign

but prepare yourself for what could be a long wait

No, he has never been married before and has no children.  I understand the whole stigma about Nigeria, but not everyone is a fraud sheesh I mean I do understand though.  I have heard of other cases and interviews after ours and they were approved on the spot idk I'm just ready for this to be over and I want my husband home

He might have a name that is similar to someone else… but usually that results in DS5535.

Yeah, it is unfortunate legit couples get caught up in the fraud debacle… the thread I linked to did end happily btw… I linked that thread to show how unfair the process can be…

But, as @JeanneAdil mentioned it is good news they kept the passport.

Yeah, I read that thread that's insane! I'm happy they finally got their approval. He is a good guy we're just ready to get our lives started it's been way too long.  We keep racking our brains thinking what could they possibly be looking for? Our Social media are linked to each other pics posted multiple visits etc I guess we'll continue to wait....

Each and every applicant goes through AP, some faster and other longer. But it’s definitely part of everyone’s process.

Also, verbal on the spot approvals do not hold any weight and are not a thing, Nobody gets a visa right there and then, you have to come back for it or it’s mailed. That wait to get it is also AP. True approval is when the status shows “Issued”.

Ohhhhh Gotcha! from what others where telling me is that they knew their status the day of before they left the interview, and they got their visas like 2-3 days later,  but then again people can tell you anything right? But what you just said makes perfect sense.

Red flag issues like big age difference (10 or more years)?
