K1 - CEAC Status is "Ready"

Hi all,

Can someone please tell me what to expect next now that my status on CEAC is showing up as "Ready"?

From what I understand, I should be getting Package 3 and Package 4 in the mail. In the meantime, should I be filling out DS-160? How long will it take for my package to arrive from Montreal to Vancouver?

Thank you!

Hi! The Ready means it your case has arrived at the consulate in Montreal (it may have shown "In Transit" before this). Your case will stay in Montreal, which is the only Consulate in Canada that processes K1 Visas. Are you aware that your interview will be in Montreal?

Thanks Flavia!

Yes, I know that the interview will be in Montreal (I'm excited to finally taste Montreal style bagels). I guess my main question would be whether I should be expecting mail from the embassy about my next steps? The volume of information and lack thereof at the same time is a little confusing! I found some information about Packet 3 and Packet 4 online but I'm not sure if I should follow that on my own or wait to hear from the embassy before I proceed. The information online dates back to 2014 so I'm cautious to follow it completely.

Many thanks :)

No problem, I get you,! Too much (conflicting) information can be very confusing. I was concerned you were expecting the interview to be in Vancouver...

You can wait for P3 (by mail) with the list of documents you need to email them (passport photo page, form DS-160, P3 checklist) or you can get ahead and send them an email with these as early as today if you want. I did this and skipped that P3 waiting period - probably up to 2-3 weeks. You can find the P3 content and instructions here: https://ca.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/27/2016/07/Packet3Instructions-K1.pdf

You will then receive P4 by email a few days later. :) Let me know if I can help you with anything else. I've already received P4 and booked my interview for June 1st.

Thank you so much for pointing me towards the right direction! You've been sososo helpful. Thank you for linking the pdf of packet 3 online. That's a great idea that you got a head start on it since I can easily print this off at home as well.

I wish you the best of luck with your interview coming up!
