From transfer date. And transfers take a little longer. If it’s only been a month then it’s too early to chase, wait and see if you get anything by Christmas.

Good luck.

Thanks Appleblossom, really appreciate that. Good luck to you for everything

Try to relax and focus on your consular processing stage now that your i140 has been approved for EB-1A. I believe you’ll be ok, it’s natural to be anxious about all these things, but in the end you’ll be ok.

Hahaha true true, the i140 took so much hard work to get approved, but you are nail on there, i do need to relax a bit.

@Lan22 Thank you that's a relief.

You guys are all amazing!

Thanks for your response. At present i am Sr. Scientist and my area of expertise is in semiconductors and sensors. I have more than 10 years of experience academic mainly and i am moving to Wisconsin becuase my brother-in-law stays there. So staying for 6 months is not a problem but it looks to get a job is difficult. Anyway my application is going on.

No idea on the likelihood of getting a job in that field in Wisconsin tbh, mine is energy. But I agree with the suggestion above, make sure you take 1-2 years worth of salary just in case. This study is spot on for where I am, so may well help give you an idea of how much you'd need - assuming it's just you (no family) then it says $85k per year for a single adult to live comfortably. https://smartasset.com/data-studies/state-salary-living-comfortably-2024

I'd add on a chunk as you'll spend lots more when you first arrive just on setting up life there and things like having no credit score makes a big impact. But fingers crossed it won't take you long to find something, good luck.

Please fill in your timelines! Let's pay it forward and help other EB applicants following us. Thanks.

Hi @appleblossom kindly explain to us how to do this timeline thingy, I’ve got no idea, haven’t checked anybody’s timeline, I’ve been reading only the posts by everybody, lol. I wrote my timeline in one of my posts and thought that’s it, lol. You in energy, wow, I’m a chemical and petroleum engineer, so heading to Texas. I’ll dm you. I’ve visited Boston before and really like it there, but it’s so expensive there, that’s why I’m heading to Texas lol.

Ah, you'll be hoping for the opposite result to me in November then - I'm in renewable energy. 😂 It is crazy expensive here but I couldn't live in Texas, that was a location option but not for us.

To do your timeline you need to go to your profile, click on your name on the top right and it's there. Then it means anybody searching can filter by just EB1/EB2 applicants and get all of our timelines which is super helpful.

Hi everyone, I have a question regarding civil documents. I have completed the DS260 online over a week ago and still no instructions on how to submit civil documents. Was wondering if this will be online or mailed to NVC. Also, if anyone has current times to get an interview date at the Montreal Consulate for EB1 category. Thanks

You have to mail them, EB applicants can't upload. Your welcome email should have had details on submitting them, and a cover sheet that you need to print out and put on the top of your package?

And it's about a year for an interview in Montreal once you're DQ'ed.

Good luck.

@appleblossom thanks for the response. On my welcome email, there was no address to send the documents to but it does have a cover sheet. Also what documents on the cover sheet will be applicable to EB1A. Out of curiosity, is there a better consulate that processes faster? I am also a Canadian so wondering if I can transfer somewhere else.

There isn't an address, but it should have said something like 'Submit financial and supporting documents in one package to NVC. NVC's mailing address can be found at https://nvc.state.gov/mail.'

The documents needed are all set out on the NVC website - https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-5-collect-financial-evidence-and-other-supporting-documents/step-7-collect-civil-documents.html Also make sure you check the country specific documents list too.

Where do you live? You can only transfer somewhere else if you're resident there.

I live in Canada but also a Nigerian citizen. I believe Nigeria has a longer processing time currently. Also for the documents, what documents do I submit for "Financial forms and supporting documents" for EB1A.

Oh yes, stick with Canada then. Much longer in Lagos.

See the link I gave you above which tells you what's needed. Not sure where you're seeing 'financial forms and supporting documents'? For EB1 you don't have a financial sponsor.
