And interviews going very very slow in brazil….

If you look at the stats, Brazil is issuing far more EB visas each month than other consulates and even other visa categories. 326 EB-2's issued last month, versus only 52 CR1/IR1's (spousal visas). So they're prioritising EB visas over others and clearing trying to catch up.

Hopefully it won't take long at that rate until you get your IL, good luck, hope you hear soon.

Good morning everyone,

I have been following this thread over the past few weeks. Does anyone know if your ballpark estimate of around 25 days to DQ for EB cases also applies to EB-5 cases? My documents were submitted by Fedex to the DoS mailroom in VA and signed for on Sep-25. Since then, I have sent various inquiries to the NVC - only to get back the same generic texts you all know. Any idea if EB-5 may land on a separate desk / department?

Where did you get the 25 days for DQ thing? NVC received all my docs end of august and then took until mid October to tell me one of my docs was wrong. Resent that which was received about 3 weeks ago. This is all for EB1

According to NVC timelines they’re looking at docs that they got after they got my docs. I’m not sure what that means though, like if they’re looking at docs from nov 8 does that mean they’re done looking at docs they received the week before?

Im not sure why it’s taking so long… I’m now coming up to 2.5 months total now waiting for DQ, I’m not sure if that’s normal or not… I think I’m just losing my mind a bit. Getting a bit antsy because I was really hoping to be back in the US in Jan or Feb so I can start working again as I have been out of a job for 6mo and can’t apply

For many jobs until I’m back on the ground.

The timelines are published weekly, it’s quicker than 25 days now. Add on a week or so for any mailed docs though. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/nvc-timeframes.html

2.5 months is unusually long, are there some unusual circumstances or a non straightforward element to your case?

the only thing that’s been weird is they initially told me I hadn’t completed my DS260, which I had, and then in October told me I had an incorrect document, and they received the correct one October 30.

Otherwise it’s a very straightforward case.

If theyre now reviewing docs from Nov 8 surely it has to come very soon… I feel like I’m losing my mind!

Ah, ok. So it’s only been 2 weeks since you submitted your docs (the clock only starts ticking when they have all the right ones), not 2.5 months. That makes more sense!

Add on a week or so for you posting it rather than uploading it, and that means you should get DQ’ed very soon. Good luck.

yes true…. I’m so frustrated at myself that I added 2 extra months for missing a simple document.

It’s such a first world problem but y’all get it!

Annoying as hell, I agree. I thought you have a lawyer doing your app? If so I'd complain to them, it's their responsibility to make sure you submit everything needed, so I'm really surprised they didn't pick up on it being the wrong one.

Yes I was thinking that about the lawyers, really annoying considering how much I paid them… there are instructions buried deep on the USCIS website that specifically explain what to get in terms of my Australian police report and I didn’t read them properly but yeh kinda annoyed about that.

They should have flagged that to you. Ours sent us a really comprehensive overview with lists, document examples etc, so we knew exactly what was required when we were compiling our docs.

And if they didn't even clarify what type of police cert you needed, it would worry me what else they'd missed tbh. Maybe stick with VJ instead of lawyers! 😂

It totally depends, some months they seem to cut off around the 8th, other times it's midway through the month so you may just have squeaked in. Keep an eye on the CR1 IL thread as then you'll know when they go out this month.

Hi All,

I had my interview today in Almaty, it went well enough. The CO was very friendly and asked many different questions to confirm my eligibility, but slightly limited me in answering by asking the next question, so I missed some points that looked important to me.

In the end, I was informed about the administrative processing required with the white slip 221(g) requesting my CV and the list of publications, despite the fact they were both included as the exhibits to the petition (I did it myself, without an attorney, so sure it contains everything needed). I pointed to that fact as they were laying in front of the CO, but got the expected answer that I should send them by e-mail in MS Word format anyway (not in pdf to make further copy/paste easier!). Moreover, all exhibits to my petition (more than 600 pages) were returned to me after the interview; only the petition itself and some civil documents copies I sent to NVC stayed at the Consulate.

I sent the requested data to the Consulate a few minutes later from the hotel, and now it seems long months of waiting have begun...

Good luck to everyone!

Damn, that's disappointing. Hopefully it's just a short wait :(
