It's nothing to do with him now unfortunately. It could only take a couple of weeks (depending on the reason for AP), but it could also be quite a bit longer. There's a long running thread about the DS-5535 in Montreal which may be worth a read -

It's usually due to an occupation on the TAL list, or link with a high risk country (Middle East, Pakistan, etc).

I think it could be administrative process they do for most application since there is a big gap between the time of application and visa interview. Mine got approved really fast so its nothing to worry about for EB1 and EB2-NIW.

I’m not really sure what you mean. ‘Normal’ AP is usually only a few hours, a day max. Longer than that and it means they’re checking something out.

The visa category has nothing to do with it either way.

Hi all, my Civil Documents was delivered to NVC yesterday, is there any email to confirm receipt? Thanks

No, you'll just have your tracking to show they were delivered, you don't get anything from NVC other than a RFE or DQ email.

Good luck.

Congrats! Paris seems to be super slow for some reason at the moment, I hope it speeds up a bit for you.

Good luck.

Hi everyone,

Is it a problem during eb2 niw interview if the applicant is not employed in his home country at the time of the interview? i was laid off 2 months ago and was just wondering if it could be an issue if the consular officer asks about current job. Thanks!

It's very quick now (used to take months and months!), but add about a week or so on to the quoted timescales for EB applicants as it takes a bit more time. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/nvc-timeframes.html

Good luck.

Thank you, i got DQ couple of weeks ago. In the DQ notice, they mentioned things like what I should also plan to bring eg other income, assets, proof of current job. I thought as EB applicants we did not require these. Or was it a standard template everyone gets?

It’s standard. When you get your IL it’ll have the checklist, but also make sure you check the usual NVC website carefully including the country specific documents list for your consulate.

Good luck.

Update about my interview at London Embassy:

I had my interview in December for EB2NIW, Consular verbally approved it and said that he is waiting for some checks and kept passports. No paper was handover to me either.

Status changed from Ready to AP after two days of interview, then Ready to AP again in the last two days but still not changed to Issued. Has anyone been in the same scenario?
