Does anyone know the usual waiting time for EB2-NIW interview letter in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia? I transferred my case to Kuala Lumpur more than two months ago and I have not received the interview letter so far.

I am EB1, and I transferred to Kuala Lumpur for 1 and a half month but still did not receive IL. I think there's backlog in Malaysia now could be very length especially for EB category

It's nothing to do with him now unfortunately. It could only take a couple of weeks (depending on the reason for AP), but it could also be quite a bit longer. There's a long running thread about the DS-5535 in Montreal which may be worth a read -

It's usually due to an occupation on the TAL list, or link with a high risk country (Middle East, Pakistan, etc).

Wait... so it also depends on the embassy / consulate right? A lot of Pakistani I know they don't go for this process and just got the visa

Not surprising as it seems that based on posts i have seen on reddit and other social media, people from backlogged places including Pakistan, are transferring there in big numbers.
Such transfers also caused a backlog in South Africa, where at present the waiting time is 9-10months(used to be 4months last year).

Country of origin, place of interview, travel history, and just the consular officer.

I had a USCIS account, it was utterly pointless though. I really wouldn't worry about it, particularly as you've passed the USCIS stage now anyway.

And why do you think you need a lawyer? It is dead easy, nowhere near as complex as the petition, and you can ask here if anything isn't sure. Your call of course but I wouldn't say it's needed unless you have complicated circumstances.

Thanks, i think i will just skip the lawyer part.

I have started filling my ds260.
For the social media, they even included Whatsapp now btw (because it has a status portion, which counts as social media rather than private messaging).
I have a twitter account that I share with others where we often post our accepted projects, it was set up by someone else, but I took over and linked it with my email, but the description says my name and the whole team. The DS260 portion mentioned that multi-user accounts do not need to be added. My brain says "don't add", but just wanted to confirm.

@Jumboeggs Regarding the delays in South Africa. Just to share my experience, I have someone who’s PD is February 2023 (EB2) and has already completed his interview early in October. Currently waiting for visa collection. So I don’t think there is a backlog in South Africa. or I may be missing something here?

Depends on when he was DQ’ed. If it was only August or September, then no, no backlog.

Please fill in your timeline to help others, thx.

They were lucky, a lot of Pakistanis (particularly males) do get put in to AP as Pakistani records are so poor and extra checks are needed. Please complete your timeline to help others, thanks.

Please cross check this info regarding back log in South Africa. The 9 - 10 months, is it from DQ date or When PD is current or what?? Because I know someone that got IL in 35 days after transferring back to SA, and will be attending interview in November......

When were they DQ'ed though? That's the pertinent info.

For ROW, EB1(current), someone had a DQ of Jan end and iv this month, unless he lied on the dates. I prepared myself to wait that long to avoid disappointments. I hope I am wrong and we dont have to wait so long.

I went on the FB group for Jbrg and there we have more credible info: One person had PD october 13 2023, DQ Feb 7 2024, IV Aug 15.
So 6.5 months for EB1a.
I feel the person who told me a longer period mixed his DQ and his PD.

@kemsy Please, what is the current status of the person who transferred case to SA? From where to South Africa? PD & QD? This info can help.

During the background check after submitting the ds260, does the USCIS contact the people who signed the recommendation letters? Should I give them a heads up that they might be expecting a call from the USCIS? All letters I submitted just talked about my work, and did not mention any promise of any future job they are offering. I know that letters showing potential job offers can get checked.

After arriving in the U.S. how long does it take to receive the 'Green Card'? If I plan to visit initially only for 2 weeks will I receive the green card by that time? If not received within those 2 weeks, during re-entry will I face any problem or the visa stamp in the passport will be enough to travel back to the U.S.? Kindly reply thank you
