Police Certificate Required?

Hi all,

I was hoping that someone could help me answer this question regarding if I will need a police certificate or not.

It states that Police Certificates are required for all countries where you have lived for more than 12 months since the age of 16.

Does this mean 12 months continuously, or 12 months in total?

Example: I am a UK citizen/resident, however I went to university for 3 years in the Netherlands.

First year: I was only in the Netherlands for around 9 months in total, with approximately 1 month home in the UK over Xmas and 2 months home in Summer.

Second year: Again, I was only in the Netherlands for 9 months in total, with approximately 1 month home in the UK over Xmas and 2 months home in Summer.

Third year: I was only in the Netherlands for 5 months in the year, as I was on a study abroad programme for a period.

Would be great to hear peoples thoughts/experiences on this sort of situation!

Thanks

Joe

Thought, not experience:

Get the certificate.  You spent almost two years in total in the Netherlands.  I agree it wasn't continuous but you still had a significant presence in the Netherlands.

You'd rather have the certificate and not need it than not get it and it turns out to be an issue.

12 months total.  It does not explicitly state 12 months continuous.  Generally, default to the conservative option.
