Getting a B1/B2 after an overstay?

I'm posting for someone as a favor from England. She overstayed her B1 due to Covid and has left and now wants to return. I understand there could be a minimum time before she can apply or is there a way to appeal it with the Covid issues?

It would be nice to have a timeline (dates) of entry and exit.  How long did she overstay?

She just messaged me she she arrived in December of 2019 and left in July of 2022. Covid was one delay as well as someone stealing her money was another.

She was here 2 and a half years????!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!  Her chances of any appeal are zero, imho.  She could have left LONG before she did.  Looks like she has an overstay of about 2 years and a 10 year ban.   Her excuse just doesn't add up, IMO.

She can always try. I’m not saying she’s lying, but COVID hit in March 2020 and even then, there were several companies that were flying out their nationals. Even going to Mexico might have been an option. I do understand that she was robbed, and I’m so sorry that this happened, but again, she had three years to leave. 
I’m also wondering how was she able to eat and buy stuff in all three years. Did she work while she was on a tourist visa? 
 

So the questions (to be able to help her) are

How old is she?

Where was she born?

Did she work on a tourist visa?

What are her ties to her home country?

Does she have any ties to the US? 
why does she want to come back so soon?

What efforts did she make to leave the country on time?

10 year ban legally. Practically my prediction is she is never coming back to the U.S. on a nonimmigrant status.

Her overstay was for two and a half years? That is way too long and for a good bit of that time, covid is not a valid excuse. She is for sure looking at a ban of 10 years.... which will be really hard to appeal.

Such a lame excuse. Tired of it. 

I traveled in 2021 and 2022 via Europe. 

 

Your friend came with intention to AOS, those "We met while I was on B-2, fell in love right away and knew we didn't want to be separated. This was not planned lol" stories. 

 

I wouldn't be surprised if she was dating USCs during those 2.5 years but unfortunately, they never materialized. How was she even paying bills? Supporting herself and her stay for 2.5 years?

many of us were out of the US when covid hit

i was in Paris and left the 17th of March (1 and 1/2 hours before CDG shut down) but US and UK helped citizens return after the 17th -like the following passengers UK helped get home from a cruise ship as reported in the Guardian

she could have left the same as our US students studying out of the country were also lined up to fly home

How did she manage to support herself after her money was stolen?

I'm thinking living in the US was more expensive than a one way ticket back home....

I'm pretty curious about why she left after overstaying two years+ and why now three months after leaving, she wants to return.
