I think it largely depends on how long after they are "following on".

My son followed on nine months after I did and he had to go for an interview separately from me (He was aged 16 at he time. May be different in your case as the children are so young. Why not contact the embassy and find out for sure?

A child has 6 months to follow if the visas issued includes the child. If the child " follows to join " and let's say had her/his own interview

she/he has to join within one year of parents visa issue date to be eligible. Also the child has to be under 21 and unmarried.

A twist to our case about my fiance's daughter. We were planning for her to follow after/within a year of his visa being issued.

We are currently in AP/AR since the interview 7 months ago. Now the embassy is telling us that they "recommend " a DNA test or they

WILL NOT PROCEED with our case.

I told the embassy the child is not accompanying but following to join. Still they insist on the $700 test now.

The 2 min. test has to be done at the Dakar embassy in Senegal even though he lives in Sierra Leone, which involves extensive travel

during the rainy season and through pre election hot spots by ground travel or $900 for tickets to fly. A 4 day trip through 3 countries.

It depends entirely upon which embassy you are dealing with. I just wanted to add my story with this ridiculous and unforseen twist !
