I've got my medical soon, and I'm finally starting to get a bit worried I'll get lost in London.

Travelling down tomorrow, via Alton Towers for the day (see it while I can etc), and then checking into a hotel in Slough tomorrow evening. Will catch a train from Slough and arrive in Paddington at around 8am. I'll then try and navigate the tube system (never been to London) to get to a station close to the doctors in Bentinck Street.

Any suggestions on which tube station is the best to arrive at (that isn't Bond, I don't want to have to deal with changes on the tube, I'll only end up in Gatwick knowing my luck!).

If you are really worried about getting lost I'd recommend getting a taxi from Paddington right to the door,

I got a taxi, very easy to find outside Paddington station just follow the signs, it cost around £7, a tube ticket wuld be £4.50 I think the extra few pounds was worth it for the hassle free ride.

When I finished the medical and was less worried about time restraints, I walked out onto Oxford street and got a bus back to Paddington, I'd pretty much do anything to avoid the tube as I really don't like it.

The people at Bentinck mansioNs were very nice.

Good luck

Sarah

If you're staying in Slough, and getting the train into London, then that train will take you into Paddington. From there you can get the Bakerloo Line to Baker Street, and walk to Bentinck Mansions (or whatever it's called, I forget)... won't take you more than 10 mins to walk from Baker Street tube, and it's very easy - just look at a map and go down Marylebone High Street! :)

2005 - We met

2006 - Filed I-129F

2007 - K-1 issued, moved to US, completed AOS (a busy year, immigration-wise)

2009 - Conditions lifted

2010 - Will be naturalising. Buh-bye, USCIS! smile.png

Good luck with the medical. It is really quick and simple and the staff there were really friendly.

The building is so easy to find and very close to Marylebone High Street. There are some great places there to get something to eat or have a coffee. Once you are done, Oxford Street and Bond Street etc are all only a few minutes walk away.

Bond Street station is so close, but if you don't want to change lines, I agree Baker Street or taxi is the way to go.

Have fun, that's the main thing!!

Just a quick review of my medical for those who do like to read these things and prepare themselves for it.

I arrived into Paddington, and got the tube to Baker Street. When I came out of Baker Street Station, I crossed over Marylebone Road and walked south down Baker Street.

Turning left onto Fitzharding Street (as you walk down Baker Street and you notice a park area with a fence around it on your right, turn left (the parkland is Portman Square). Walk a few yards down Fitzharding Street and around the small fenced green in front of you (Manchester Square) and then carry on in the same direction (road is now Hinde Street) and you cross over Mandville Place onto Bentnick Street. Bentnick Mansions is about the 3rd building on the right of the street, the first one with steps leading up to the door.

I rang the buzzer for Knightsbridge Doctors, and was let in. Once you enter the foyer of the building, the Doctors is the door on the right, Flat 4.

Went inside, lady at reception took my name and I went to sit in a waiting room. Handed over my passport, a photo, my medical interview and the letter from my packet 3, and was given another questionnaire to fill in, and the HIV consent form to fill in.

After a little while, I was taken to have my chest X-ray done, and then told to wait in a smaller waiting room. Here I chatted to an Indian or Pakistani couple who had applied for an employment based visa back in 2005, a guy who was moving to LA I think on a K1, and a guy who was moving to Alabama with his USC wife.

After about 15 minutes of chatting, I was taken to see a female doctor. She looked over my questionnaire I filled in when I arrived, asked if I had ever had chicken pox, took my height and weight, tested my eyes, listened to my breathing, asked me to turn and cough, and then took a blood sample.

I was led back to the main waiting room, and then back to the reception desk to pay. I was given a copy of the DS-3025 with my receipt.

My appointment was for 8:50. I arrived at 8:40, and I was out the door by 9:50.
