Hello everyone,

Wondering if anyone has gone through a similar situation. I am the beneficiary and am on a post graduate work permit in Canada that is about to expire the first of May and my status cannot be extended. This means I have to leave Canada before May 1st. My interview is in Montreal, but I have not been scheduled yet. I was DQ'd 24th of Jan this year. We requested to expedite our case but got denied. Does anyone know anything about how a change of interview location would work or what would happen in this situation?

Thanks!

If you are no longer a legal resident of Canada at the time or your interview, you cannot interview there. You will have to request that your file be transferred to a consulate where you are either a citizen or a legal resident.
Id be trying again  to get the consulate to schedule the interview before the end of April

Unfortunately Montreal is (like usual) a bit behind.  DQ's for late December/early January were issued letters in the wee hours for May interviews.  The OP is likely to miss by a month.

@FZG you can try to contact the Montreal consulate, but they are really difficult to deal with and typically take 6 weeks to reply to anything.

Yep. Worth trying just in case …. But definitely need plan B ready to go. Id be researching and trying to contact the home country consulate to get an idea of their timeframe .. and maybe get on their radar

Thank you both! Wait times in my home country are over 500 days. We're so close to the finish line, I really hope this doesn't push us back to the beginning of the line. Trying to contact Montreal now.
