Here is my experience for your entertainment with the stamped DS Form.

First we went to the Citibank north of the Embassy on the road that runs eat-west near the pharmacy (pass the fence that say "no peeing here, LOL). They would not do it unless we were customers (i.e., had account). Might have been Kalaw/South Street; I could see the park across the street.

Then we went to the BPI a few blocks south of there on another east-west street, maybe Arquza Street. The guard lets you in; you have to sit on bench or chair, no lining up in front of tellers. Then you go to teller, and then wait for someone at desk then back to teller. The strange part was I tried to pay with American Dollars or maybe American Express Travelers Checks, seems like so long ago. Anyhow, since neither one of us had account at BPI I had to leave bank and get PH Peso at a moneychanger. They also added a fee/premium on top of the fee required by Embassy. Who knows, Puti tax?

So if I were to do it again, but I am not, I would bring at least $125 USD in PH Peso.

Lot of variance among the exchange rate for Travelers Checks, the best rate seemed to be from the Arab owned businesses. Dollars to Peso is usually pretty much the same.

The next person probably has a totally different experience, PI defiantly seems to operate with out Standard Operating Procedures, but isn't that part of the adventure of it, and why it is so much fun!

Good Luck Charlie

Ailene paid her visa fee at the BPI right outside Robinsons Mall last week.

She gave the teller her DS157 that she filled out online, and the lady validated it with no problems.

Sounds good but normally most banks won't stamp DS 157 that have been filled out online.

Maybe they've changed their policies since my wife and a LOT of other people did theirs.

You can definitely pay the 100 bucks in peso equivalent and I imagine you won't have any problems with a nice crisp Benjie naman!
