Manhunt underway for Roy McGrath, ex-chief of staff to former Gov. Hogan, after no-show at fraud trial

NAPLES, FLORIDA — Law enforcement has launched a manhunt for Roy McGrath, the ex-chief of staff to former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan, after he failed to appear in federal court Monday for the start of his criminal trial on fraud and theft charges.

Sheriff’s deputies checked his home Monday morning in Naples, Florida, but McGrath wasn’t there, a spokeswoman said. A judge issued a warrant for his arrest, and the U.S. Marshals Service is calling him a fugitive.

 

The area around McGrath’s Raffia Preserve home in Naples is quiet, a gated community off a main road that features new-build strip malls with restaurants such as Five Guys and Dunkin’ Donuts. Inside the community, the exterior of McGrath’s house was quiet, with no police presence.

McGrath was supposed to meet his lawyer, Joseph Murtha, outside U.S. District Court in downtown Baltimore at 8:45 a.m., ahead of a 9 a.m. hearing that was to be followed by jury selection.

He never showed.

Roy McGrath is not a good person. While working for former Gov. Larry Hogan, he stole money from MD taxpayers to live a lavish lifestyle with his wife. He stands accused of wire fraud, theft, and many other charges including wiretapping Larry, many other elected officials (for reasons we are not yet sure why but perhaps blackmail?), and forging Larry's signature and memos to make him the beneficiary of a sweet sweet payout. Roy and his wife surrendered their passports and weapons and were not deemed a flight risk. Clearly we underestimated them. We don't know if Larry actually knew what was going on. He says he was just shocked by it all and has no idea why someone who worked very closely for him for a long time would do this. We would like Roy to come back to court so we could find out though!

A little off topic. However 5 guys is the most over priced fast food in America.  It's not bad, but it is average. A buddy of mine owed me a payback so bought lunch 6 of us. Over 130usd a bacon cheese burger is almost 13 bucks

Absolutely hate Five Guys. Greasy, overpriced.. with the worst fries.. the overwhelming smell of the peanuts (oh and that one time I had food that tasted like it had been cooked in rancid oil). There are many better burger options out there for sure.

 

Roy is still missing. The FBI raided his home this morning. I suspect the wife and the lawyer know more than they are telling.

Roy is still missing and it's been nothing but silence about this case.

 

But tonight an interesting clue. Someone using the name "Ryan Cooper" is publishing a book about McGrath on Amazon for purchase of a small fee. It's claiming to be a juicy tale about some kind of potential crimes Gov. Hogan did and of course making Roy out to be some kind of hero. It's due released on Wednesday. The lawyer claims no knowledge of it.

The real author, Ryan Cooper, claims no knowledge of it either.

I can't wait for the FBI to have fun with this one!

Based on what I've been able to see digging around this is self-published via Amazon with an obvious pseudonym. I'm guessing any money made goes to some sort of shady account. He's either alive and hiding out on some island thinking he won't be caught.. which is just stupid. Or he's dead or soon to die and this is some kind of weird manifesto. Not sure why you'd charge people for the viewing 'pleasure' though if you were dead.

The only reason they are searching for him is because he's a republican.

And he "lived a lavish lifestyle" on the $276,000 he stole from MD residents?  I don't think lavish means what the MSM wants us to think it means.
