Hello,

I have a question,

My parents are waiting for an interview to be scheduled under visa category IR5 immigration visa, one if them is fully vaccinated and the other is not due to health issues.

Under this requirements by CDC,

What You Need to Know
  • If you are a non-U.S. citizen who is a nonimmigrant (not a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, lawful permanent resident, or traveling to the United States on an immigrant visa), you will need to show proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before you travel by air to the United States from a foreign country.
Why the doctors there in Morocco that were approved by the US embassy to run the medical test requiring the immigrant visa applicants to be fully vaccinated by COVID 19 vaccination before attending the appointment since the CDC clearly stating that it is not required for the immigrant visa applicant to travel by air to United States by air ?.

USCIS has decided to require the covid vaccination:

 https://www.uscis.gov/tools/designated-civil-surgeons/vaccination-requirements

Under the immigration laws of the United States, a noncitizen who applies for an immigrant visa abroad, or who seeks to adjust status to that of a lawful permanent resident while in the United States, is required to receive vaccinations to prevent the following diseases:

  • Mumps;
  • Measles;
  • Rubella;
  • Polio;
  • Tetanus and Diphtheria Toxoids;
  • Pertussis;
  • Haemophilus influenzae type B;
  • Hepatitis B;
  • COVID-19; and
  • Any other vaccine-preventable diseases recommended by the Advisory Committee for Immunization Practices (ACIP).

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and its Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) have recommended COVID-19 vaccination for the age-appropriate, general US population. Therefore, COVID-19 vaccination now meets the criteria for required vaccinations and is a requirement for applicants.

~~ Topic moved to COVID 19 forum as the question is about COVID vaccination requirements ~~

You’re mixing up entry to the US rules with medical exam requirements. Those are different things. For immigrant visa interview medical, COVID vaccines are a requirement.

Cdc just updated the vaccination requirement for kids: As of April 21, 2023, a single dose of Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine, Bivalent meets the vaccine requirement of these Technical Instructions for applicants 6 years old or older and a single dose of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine, Bivalent meets the requirements for applicants 5 years old or older.

Tourists and others are not required to have vaccines. Only immigrants.  This is because everyone knows only immigrants can spread COVID. Science.

Yes, I agree with you, and to me this is the most stupid law that CDC and the US government is doing nowadays.
