Green card lost and expiring, should we apply for citizenshipship?

The person said we needed to have an "urgent" reason in order to get the stamp because otherwise we could have just waited for the GC. Since I was concerned that something may not have worked out, we were able to get an appointment with the reason that my husband needs to renew his DL and we have a letter from the DMV. But now that the case  is closed, will we be able to get the stamp? Or should I just cancel the appointment?

no refund if biometrics are reused

 

i think that if you checked the “lost GC” box then you will get a replacement card with the same details as the lost one .. including the expiry date of June 2023

 

if this is what happens then you will need to apply for a renewal before the expiry date   Maybe someone will actually look at details and renew rather than replace but i doubt it 

 

Renewal can be done within the 6 months prior to expiry, so unfortunately you could have legitimately applied for a renewal instead of a replacement

We were.specifically told to apply for a replacement because my husband did not have the GC.

 

The website also automatically give you the amount to pay. We do they ask to pay for biometric if they were not going to.take.them?

Not necessarily.

 

We lost our GCs (issued 2004) in 2007, fell out of ziplock bag on plane.  Noticed right away but airline cleaners didn’t find.

 

Got boarding foils in London very easily.  Went home, filed i-90s and we got 10 year cards expiring 2017.

 

I know because my spouse filed to naturalize in 2017 and instead of getting a new card, received stickers to stick on back of GC.  Naturalized 2018.

This is written on each web page form on USCIS website:

 

Filing and biometric service fees are final and non-refundable, regardless of any action we take on your application, petition, or request, or if you withdraw your request.

 

So no, even if they don't take your fingerprints your biometric fee won't be refunded.

Hi @iamanamericanwife, reading through this thread in a similar situation. So your replacement green card was printed and mailed in a matter of days? That’s at least encouraging because I was reading it could take up to a year.
