Aos police record needed?

Hello,

im doing aos and have a question:

I read the checklist and saw that I need my child’s and my birth certificate so I ordered that from my home country as it will take a while and then have my mom send it over to me. Do I also need my police record document? It says on the checklist „if applicable“ , does that mean I only need to submit this document in case I ever had any incidents ? (Which is not the case!) or do I need to Provide it either way to proof that it’s clean and no records in it? It takes super long to get this document from my home country and is complicated to get as I would have to order it with a notarised signature etc etc and would cost a lot of money. So just want to make sure that I would not make all the effort for nothing. As far as I see this is the only documents I need from my home country, though I find the uscis checklist a little confusing so I’m a little anxious and want to make sure I have all the documents at hand when we want to fill out the forms as I am obviously not at home and need everything send to me by my mom early enough to be prepared.

Thank you in advance!

now NBC  will  check here in the US

relax

Based on a previous post by the OP, it appears this is an Adjustment of Status from Tourist visa.

I did. Couldn’t find any mention in the checklist about it, so I assume I don’t need it? Posted here to make sure I got it right.

and that takes time and a lot of work

Is there nobody here who recently submitted the aos papers and can confirm for me if the criminal record is needed or not?

Not needed. You can confirm that by a Google search "is police certificate required for adjustment of status"

USCIS will conduct a thorough background search.

Did your child enter w you on B-2 tourist visa and is now adjusting w you?

Were you married before?

You indicated you are not planning to file forms and file now..but in the future. What is holding you back?
Filing can be done w copies of birth/marriage/divorce docs ( email pdf files) and do not require newly minted originals .

If you have already married, then it’s safer to file asap

My bad I’m sorry, I entered on an esta, not tourist visa. I mixed those two up. Me and my child  both entered on esta. We are planning on filing the form soon after we got married, and I am already now gathering the needed docs. That’s why I came on here to confirm. I was never married before.
