Okay so they have to apply for visa once I-130 is approved? I kept reading about applying for I-485 too so I was confused. Do you have any idea about the timelines for parents and for brothers. I saw the timeline for parents and brothers for I-130 but it’s the visa timelines that’s a lot longer for brothers right? I don’t know where to check that.

Yes, they do have to apply for a visa.

I-485 is indeed for adjustment of status, but that DOES NOT apply in your case.

For siblings, as @Boiler advised, you need to check the visa bulletin. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/legal/visa-law0/visa-bulletin/2023/visa-bulletin-for-march-2023.html

Currently they're processing visa petitions for cases from March 2007.

Can you explain more as I had read that once I 130 is approved I have to apply for adjustment of status. Or is this application fulfilling both requirements?

Adjustment of status aka I-485 is filed by an alien who meets all the following conditions:

  • Entered the USA legally
  • Is still in the U.S.
  • Is not a lawful permanent resident

My parents and brothers are not in the US. I live in Dallas, Texas. Do I need to put in Islamabad Pakistan here for the embassy? Also do I have to apply for immigrant visa adjustment of status from now or once the I 130 is approved?

Thank You

Fill in the section regarding the embassy location, which will be Islamabad, Pakistan.

DO NOT fill in the section about the field office for adjustment of status.  IF you do, USCIS will hold onto the I-130 after it is approved and not send it to the NVC.  This will cause delays and more $$$ as you will need to file an I-824 for each petition.

And what about for my brothers?

Their immigrant visas will take 15-20 years.

It just asked me "At which US embassy or consulate location will the beneficiary apply for an immigrant visa" since they are in Pakistan I put Islamabad, Pakistan. I did not see a question in the application for adjustment of status at all. I just looked at my application that I saved and this is what it has. Did I do something wrong?
