TN Lt. Gov. official Instagram account repeatedly comments on nearly naked photos of 20-year-old gay man

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A young man’s nearly naked pictures on Instagram have turned into a controversy for Tennessee’s lieutenant governor.

Randy McNally’s Instagram history started circulating on social media Wednesday. His critics say it shows he is a hypocrite as the legislature passes anti-LGBTQ legislation.

 

The pictures were posted on an Instagram account by a man identifying himself as Franklyn. One of the pictures shows some of the man’s backside. 

The lieutenant governor’s verified Instagram account commented with heart emojis and fire emojis. His account also said, “you can turn a rainy day into rainbows and sunshine!”

The lieutenant governor’s account also commented on a picture in which it appears the man is not wearing underwear.

McNally’s account said, quote “great picture! Best wishes for continued health and happiness.”

There are more pictures and comments, spanning months.

“I just hope that he knows I love him and LGBTQ+ loves him and would love him even more if he would open his heart and treat everyone else the way he wants to be treated because the way I want to be treated is to be accepted and be able to be myself and not be taken to police,” Franklyn said.

The LT Gov. has presided over bills against LGBTQ people in public for his administration, but in a different sort of public and using his official accounts he has commented regularly on young gay men's accounts in a favorable and often flirty manner. The gentleman in this case says he has known the Lt. Gov since a teenager. McNally's office has admitted it is him. Personally, it's great that this conservative politician could openly accept and seemingly enjoy this young gentleman's nearly nude and suggestive photos, and post such encouraging messages. What's weird is it doesn't seem to fly with the image he has made for himself in politics, nor does it reflect his policies, though in the past he has expressed concern for individual liberty in people expressing themselves. FWIW, the gentleman has always been happy by his kind and suggestive comments and he hasn't alleged that anything romantic has been going on. Still, it's raising questions about the family's man's public enjoyment of nearly explicit content while using an official government account. Wonder if his wife is supportive.

Yep. Since this story broke other individuals have come forward with conversations they had with him on their pages. They all thought it was odd he would use his government account, but were encouraged he was so positive towards them (some thought it was a hacked account but since the communication continued for years they didn't know what to think)? He seemed to enjoy drag cabaret acts, and complimented several performers on their beauty.

 

A brief interview with him today did not go well. I hope at nearly the age of 80, he can be true to himself one day and learns not to use government accounts for his 'activities'.

It's been a really difficult time for McNally, who continues to do interviews saying he did not mean any harm, and that he's taking a step back from his internet activities of being 'really friendly' with his constituents. He will not address questions relating to talking to minors or sexual content. Most interviews he gives seems to imply he's a heavy drinker.

The young gay man in question does assure the public that the 80 year old man never hit on him directly, but through all the sexual innuendo that there may have been some question about getting a job offer to become a member of his staff.
