If you ticked the box on your DS-260 to ask for the SSN to be sent to you after your arrival in the US then you should receive it within a couple of weeks of entry. If you didn't tick that box, you'll have to go and apply in person at a SSA office.

Hi everyone, my EB1-A application got approved about 1 week ago, so wondering what the next steps are and how long before I get my IL. Also haven't received a welcome letter from NVC, so not sure what to do. All suggestions welcome

If it's only been a week since your I-140 was approved then it's too soon to be expecting the Welcome Letter. See the NVC timelines, currently about 6 weeks for case creation - https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/nvc-timeframes.html

 

How long it takes before you get your IL will depend largely on you and how quickly you submit your civil docs etc.

Thanks! In your experience, how long on average does it take from approval to IL for EB1 applicants in London? Also any next steps you recommend so I can move my case along quickly?

As above, there isn't really an average as it's very dependent on how quickly each applicant moves and completes the required NVC steps. Once you are DQ'ed though, it'll be about a month or two to receive the IL. 

 

You can prepare by making sure you have a way to pay the fees as that can trip people up who aren't expecting having to pay with a US source, and also making sure you have all your civil docs ready to go so that as soon as you have your Welcome Letter, you can get started. 

 

Luckily London is very quick (at least for those are don't have any ties to other more complex countries i.e. UK born and never lived anywhere higher risk), so it shouldn't be too long if you can get everything submitted asap.

Thread is for EB2 applicants applying via London. Not sure of DQ date though.

Yes. I received it 5 days ago. We received cards for all my family members on 30th May. Finally the process is over. All the best to you too. We entered US on 16th April.
