I-134 Supporting Evidence

Hello All,

I have a question regarding the evidence of support part of the I-134 form. Is it sufficient to simply include the statement from the sponsors employer stating annual salary etc. ?

I ask because my sponsor has sufficient income, but not too much money in the bank currently. I see that the form says you can submit "any or all" of these financial resources - should documentation of salary be enough?

How about if the sponsor were to include the past years W2?

Any suggestions?

Most immigrations units at the consulates treat the I-134 like a mini- I-864 and prefer the same financial evidence, see the instructions included with I-864.

Bank statements are only needed to use as an asset if income is below 125% of the poverty line.

In our case this what the I-134 included.

  • I-134 signed and notarized.
  • Tax transcripts from the IRS for past 3 years, (Redundant for the (1040,W2,1099) but are free from the IRS
  • Photo copy of IRS form 1040, and W2s for past 3 years
  • Letter from my employer stating annual salary, job responsibility, and that is full time, on company letterhead.
  • Photo copies of past 6 months pay stubs up to a few weeks before the interview.

If my sponsors income is above 125% of the poverty line, do they need to state that they own property and its worth? I just hate asking too much of my sponsor?

Any thoughts?

Thanks

The requested documents required to accompany the I-134 might vary from consulate to consulate.

In all cases, the CO will make there decision solely based on the evidence provided.

I only provided income information...

YMMV

I provided a letter from my employer, 3 paystubs, and a bunch of statements from my bank. Even if the co-sponsor doesn't have a lot in the bank right now, I would recommend sending statements from the account where his checks are getting deposited. They'll help affirm that he *is* getting paid consistently.

My fiance's visa was approved just today. Provide AS MUCH evidence as possible (like, submit copies of tax returns if they'll improve your case) because the amount of worrying I did before his interview was probably one of the worst experiences of my life. I should have just gone and found a co-sponsor instead of making myself physically ill with worry.

Good luck!

Asset data is not required if above 125% poverty line, I just left those lines blank.
