OP says that they received a physical letter at their correct address stating that an interview was scheduled and instructions will follow.

What kind of letter would that be if not the interview letter itself? The only physical letter is the actual interview letter (with date, place and time), no? Other than NOA1 and biometrics of course.

I thought the same. Which means one of the following, I think:

1. The letter OP received is as described in the post I quoted - a physical letter, but with no interview date.

2. The letter OP received did have an interview date and somehow OP and his spouse missed that detail.

3. The "letter" was not a physical letter, but rather a USCIS update through email and/or their USCIS account.

@IandI100 Do you still have the physical letter you received last year, stating that an interview was scheduled and instructions would follow?

If #1 is true, it seems USCIS made a mistake.

If #2 is true, the OP messed up and it would be best to just refile I-751

If #3 is true, then the situation is ambiguous because no physical letter from USCIS was received by the OP at the new/current address.

Also if #3 is true, then it calls into questions anything that was said about the circumstances in this situation so I hope that is not the case.

Agree, that letter would be interesting to see.

Since none of us have even heard of scenario 1 from anyone throughout all the years on this forum, likely USCIS does not even have a letter for that type of "notice", it's only an online status, not a letter. They wouldn't make up a letter just for OP, it would be something a lot (if not all) people would get if it actually existed. We would have heard of it. So it seems number 1 is not what happened. If they did actually receive a physical letter it was the interview letter, and if so, they just didn't read it and therefore missed the interview. Can't blame USCIS for that.

Denied due to abandonment is the term USCIS uses and closed is simply what most people use interchangeably to mean the same thing, no difference. When they reschedule it , they will have Re Opened it.
The N-400 was also “ denied “ because the previous I-751 denial meant she was not eligible to Naturalize having no LPR status …

Both I-751 and N-400 get re opened by USCIS, Congressional Liason is able to communicate with USCIS and have them look at the files .

Sorry , Am harping on words/ vocabulary, but it’s important for you to use them effectively and accept no flimsy/ vague explanations or pushback from anyone.

I don’t know why you chose the Senator, as their office is not the one who engages frequently in these battles, rather it’s the Congressman’s Office that is the go to. You can do both .

You will need to keep trying to get through USCIS ( phone or InfoPass) so you can attempt to lodge a Service Request specific to re opening the N-400 …just like you did w I-751. You cannot afford to assume the previous service request includes both….and do that before 30 days from date of N-400 decision.

Am hoping you will get it resolved without the need to file N-336 , but it’s worth filing if all you hear is crickets or silence as 30 day deadline approaches ….so put it on your calendar 3 weeks from date of N-400 denial.

On senators website it says that I could and their office also said o could when I called.  They even have a category on their website to file a request due to immigration problems.

Yes all Senators have it, it’s just from feedback of many that most effective is their rep. No worries, you took first step

It was a uscis update stating they have scheduled an interview and will send me the interview date and time. I never received any letter so we waited.  "Why did you wait" simple answer, we waited from 2018 to 2021 just for an interview update from uscis so waiting more/waiting again was not out of ordinary and wasn't anything to be alarmed by especially since we never received any further notice about that receipt at all.   We also filed for citizenship in mid 2022 while waiting on the i751.

To me, reopening will be a waste of money and time...

I received an online notification from uscis that states that we have requested for the i751 to be rescheduled and that the request has been sent to a field officer for review.  Your tier 1 friends said to call around the end of November if nothing is heard from about the reschedule request.  Surely the officer reviewing the case will be able to see that an n400 was also filed and their was never any intention of abandoning the i751.

One down ! You scored big and I-751 will be rescheduled.
I can only repeat that you should lodge a service request for the N-400

Okay, just for future reference...the words you use and meaning behind them matter when people give advice here. Why say you got a physical letter at your "correct address" when you actually got an electronic update to your USCIS account?

Anyway, good luck with everything.

I received plenty of mail regarding the n400. I didn't know that one couldn't just update am address on the website instead of doing it for each receipt number.

What I think happened was that when the n400 was denied, the i751 was also denied at the same time.  So I hope a reschedule can be done upon review by an officer.
