SLEC and vaccines

1.) No, you do not need to get vaccines elsewhere.  SLEC will administer appropriate vaccine for your age meaning... if required Vaccine A is for 10-16 years old, and you are 40, vaccine A will not be administered to you.  Vaccines are included in the fixed fee of SLEC.

2.)  That is correct.  SLEC medical is valid for 6 months.  If you have no issue on your medical day (Day 1), you get vaccines next working day (Day 2)... then it is valid for 6 months.  Now if on your Day 1, you are sent for sputum TB test, the culture result takes 2 months.  Your schedule for sputum may be a week or 2 from your Day 1 medical.  All in all consuming about 3 months of of the validity (from Day 1).    Now if positive for TB, then it will be longer.

Hope this helps!

Hi, thank you for providing detailed answers! I still have a lingering question in mind.
This is gonna be lengthy so please bear with me ... and the reason why I'm asking so much is because I need to almost "maximize" the validity of my medical report before flying to the US - so I really have to be sure how SLEC works. (There're things - not related to my immigration - in the Philippines that I've gotta deal with first before flying and those things take time and so I need to prolong my stay in the PH.)

If I understood you correctly:

Sputum consumes 3 months. Hence, at the end of the test you only get 3 months of validity: (3 months Sputum       +    3 months validity    =      6 months.)

... So, if two people were to do their medicals on the same day --- say in January.

Person 1: no Sputum ......... January --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------> June. | 6 months validity total.
Person 2: Sputum test ....... January, Feb, March (Sputum time) ---> (After getting medical / validity)  April, May, June. | 6 months validity total. ... as well.

So, in the end, the two people (no Sputum and with Sputum test) who did the test on the same day would end up having medical reports that expire in the same month despite one of them having to do the Sputum test?

Lengthy read -- I'm sorry, but I just wanna be sure.

Can't edit the comment above so I'll correct it here.

"Sputum consumes 3 months. Hence, at the end of the test you only get 3 months of validity: (3 months Sputum       +    3 months validity    =      6 months.)"
1. (6 Months Validity     ----     3 Months Sputum     =     3 Months Validity)

"Person 2: Sputum test ....... January, Feb, March (Sputum time) ---> (After getting medical / validity)  April, May, June. | 6 months validity total. ... as well."
2. By 6 months, I meant: (6 Months Validity     ----     3 Months Sputum     =     3 Months Validity) ..... so in total it takes 6 months from getting your test, going through Sputum, and the medical report expiring in June.

6 months validity from Day 1 medical to use it as a requirement for Point of Entry.  So if you have your medical April 1 and 2 - and you are cleared, then your interview with USEM is April 30, or May 30, or June 30... If approved for Visa, your visa will have expiry of around November 1.  which means you have to enter US before that date.
Scenario - your medical is April 1 - you are sent for sputum collection scheduled April 17,18,19.. your will be given a schedule to return to SLEC for vaccine around June 14 (it takes 8 weeks for s sputum culture)..  If you are called earlier than June 14, it is possible your sputum test return anomalies.  Otherwise, you get your vaccines/medical completion on your Return Day.   If you see you are closing to your return day and no calls received, go book/watch your interview slot probably a week after return day (my hubby had his interview the day after Return day - we advised SLEC of interview schedule so they can send the file to USEM on return day to be ready for an early morning interview).  Once you got issued a visa, USEM can only issue you visa with expiry around November 1, which is your 6 months from Day 1.  You then need to plan for CFO next then fly out and enter before your visa expiry.

Hope this helps!

Thank you! You've helped me finally understand it.

1. What does this mean? Do I have to get more vaccines elsewhere?

You should bring proof of COVID vax.  "Fully vaccinated".  No booster required.  SLEC does everything except COVID vaccinations.   If you have any documentation of other vaccines like baby book or something bring it too.  They aren't required and it's no problem if you don't have them but may save you a few shots if you have them.

Question regarding VaxCert - is there an original version of this I need to get somewhere?

I only have photocopies from the website.
