Hi all!!

The NVC finally received our case on Friday, and now of course my work is looking to send me to California. I'm Canadian and am worried about what would happen if I travel before my interview is scheduled. Has anyone else ever had to do something like that??

Assuming it is a short work trip .. Many people do.. should be a normal

crossing. If asked answer honestly ..business trip.. returning to Canada ..

Hi everyone!

I got DQ'd on April 5 and really don't expect to receive my interview letter until June at the absolute earliest, which in best case scenario would be an interview in August. My question is - am I able to travel to the US in between my interview letter and my interview or will they flag my account and send me back home? It's not a mandatory trip to the US, however, it's pretty important to me.

I keep hearing mixed things but thought I'd ask for a bit of insight from fellow Canadians that may have experienced this.

Thank you!

Why would "they" send you back home?

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

"They" is the customs agent lol. That's exactly my question - would they not allow me in the US because I have a pending visa with an interview lined up or does that not matter at all? I suppose if I had a return ticket scheduled it would probably not be a problem but I just wanted a bit of insight to see if it could cause any problems at the border.

I don't see an issue.  In fact, showing that you are at the last phase of the legal immigration process would be beneficial.  There is no travel prohibition during the process.  Good luck.

As per any border crossing, just make sure you have evidence of strong ties to home and keep calm and carry on.
