I want to vote.

A sizeable natural USC don't even vote. Why are you in a rush to vote in US. You can vote back home.

On another scale, I've never understood the rush for naturalized citizens to wanna vote in US. Most are so enthusiastic about it, line up to vote and get the "I voted sticker" just so as to post on social media for their friends. Surprisingly, most even never voted nor even registered to vote in their home countries BUT have to vote in US.

I got my citizenship 2 years ago and even registered to vote. I did not even vote in the recent midterm elections. I understand, however, that to each, their own 🤷‍♂️ but immigrants need to pippin down on "I want to vote" yet some never even registered to vote in their mother countries. I see them a lot here. They're the first to go vote but ask them if they ever voted back home "No, my vote wasn't going to count. You know how they rig back home." I guess it's only in US where there's no rigging 🤣.

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

Also aren’t you curious  why people who applied later than you got approved earlier?

No, not really. Because how would knowing the answer make my process faster?
And deep down I know the answer and it is that for whatever reason/s, my case landed on a different desk. And also, like I said, being a citizen is not going to make my life different because I can already work, travel, and drive…

Are these people in THE EXACT SAME SITUATION? Came in on K1 (same month/year) adjusted status (same month/year)... filed to remove conditions (same month/year) and applied for citizenship while ROC was pending OR are they applying for citizenship through work, as the parent of a USC etc etc...

Don't compare yourself to others... I'm sure when you went through the K1 process and adjustment you noticed the timelines weren't consistent and people weren't seen in a first come/first serve... you should have started to complain/campaign as soon as you saw this was an issue... not just complain because YOU are impacted NOW.

My thoughts as well.  Comparing one case to another is simply wrong.  Along with that, who knows which clerk was assigned which case, are they out on leave or something else.

To the OP, feel free to lodge a complaint, maybe contact the CIS ombudsman, or even have your lawyer file a writ of mandamus.  This is up to you.

Yes, but people applied later than me already got their interview and citizenship

Do you know all the details of those cases?  This seems to be your frustration, that USCIS should process cases in a manner of FIFO, but we should understand that many cases are being processed in parallel, and not every case is the same.  Maybe your local office is awaiting the receipt of your I751 package from whatever center it is at and the person who currently has your I751 case is out sick, or on family leave.  I know in a perfect world, those cases should be dumped on someone else, but the federal bureaucracy is not perfect.  I understand the frustration, but you have completed what you could to get yourself to the end of the process (submitting the I751, filing the N400 when your window opened, etc.).  Just let the system work and be patient.  There are many stories of folks filing the N400 with the I751 pending who get conditionally approved for the N400, but the I751 package is still unadjudicated, and they still have to wait for it to catch up.  Patience is needed and hopefully your case will move soon.

Good Luck!

Hi Friends,

I am very frustrating and angry about USCIS. I saw other people in Orlando applied months later than me already got their citizenship and interview. And my cases are still in NBC and no update at all. It has been 10 month since I applied for citizenship. I applied in May 2022. It is very ridiculous and shouldn’t take this long. I think it is very unfair that they didn’t process cases based on the receive date. I want to make a complaint about this. I already asked my senator for help but my cases are still in NBC. Does anyone know what I can do?

Try being at the Houston center.   You have 2 choices, wait it out, or withdraw your petition.

I found you very hilarious. Why would I withdraw my application? I am frustrating because it takes so long to be a USC. If I don’t care to be a USC, why would I spend the money and time to do this. I am trying to finish my application. I don’t understand why you are saying that. It is not very nice honestly

No matter how long it takes

Being able to apply within 3 years is a short time / and  that is fast in itself

and as others said "it is up to the local office now to schedule interview "

After u do have the interview,  u can check this site for  schedule of oath ceremonies (not yet posted but they will be)

I just got the extension letter for 48 month of ROC. I don’t know is it because I wrote to my senators or I called USCIS. Maybe something helped. In the notice, USCIS said that they are working on cases that were filed before my case, which indicated that they should work on the cases based on the time they received.

I am surprised to see many people here discouraging me honestly. Maybe you guys are lucky and got your citizenship very early, so nothing to complain.

But it doesn’t matter, I will do what I can do for fight for myself. Even it didn’t work, at least I tried. I encourage other unlucky ones like me to do something too. Maybe the system will be fixed one day, who knows.

USCIS as a whole is well aware of its flaws. There plenty of publicly available reports and audits that describe in full detail where the problems are and how could they improve.

We can safely conclude based on the increasing waiting times, that those issues have not being fixed.

Take in account that USCIS is a mix of employees, contractors and software that are not always in direct communication.

You just said it yourself: "the unlucky ones". Being processed faster, your case being placed with an efficient officer, are all a matter of luck.

It is very disappointing that they processed people who applied later than me and my cases are still no movement. I think it is extremely unfair. I will try different ways to complain and push them if I can.

And yes, I do feel your frustration about the long wait because frankly, my case should take two hours at most to be approved. But I also feel that I was very lucky because my green card got approved without an interview (back in the day that was not the rule!) and in six months. So I feel that I’ve already been lucky and actually, it’s not like being a citizen is going to pose much of a difference for me.

@Tomalley, it would seem that you've forgotten that immigration and all aspects of it are a privilege, not a right.  You are a citizen of your home country and the US is not obligated to extend citizenship to you.

So, be angry and frustrated all you like or you can take a page from @Rocio0010's book and count your lucky stars that you've been given an opportunity to live, work and be with your significant other in the US.

No one is being rude.  They are being honest and understanding of how the process works.  You're well within the processing time for 80% of cases and you cannot compare your case to another case because you are not aware of the details and circumstances of that other case.  You only have the details of your own.
