Thanks for starting!

We submitted March 2nd, it looks like those who submitted in February were DQ’d fairly quick. Most by 17-18 days, even saw a 14 day!

Best of luck!

Yup, I'm so happy that NVC is kicking butt and working fast! I'm hoping to hear something in the week of March 20th! :) Yours might be even the week before.

Is there any tips or links you can share to prepare for the NVC stage? (My I-130 was approved today, from what I have read I just wait a couple days to receive the welcome letter email from NVC).

If you could outline what you submitted it'd be helpful!

Thanks

One more question, for the beneficiary documents did you use the same one's that you submitted for I-130 or did you get new one's?

Thanks for your input.

I got new ones only because in my husband's country (Colombia) they consider official documents to "expire" after 6 months so we got all new documents that had an issue date of March, 2023 stamped on them.  I don't think this is so important for NVC but it will be when he goes to his interview at the consulate in Colombia and they look at his original documents.  That's what I've heard from other filers from Colombia.

The only new thing we had to prepare was the police certificate + translation and 2x2 photo. Remember that the police certificate must be current (only valid for 6 months) and the 2x2 photo should also be current. My husband cut his hair so even though he had old 2x2 photos laying around, he went and got new ones taken.

Wow that's so interesting. So your marriage certificate and birth certificate expires every 6 months? That sounds like a nightmare.

It doesn't "expire" per se but the issue date becomes old after 6 months so whenever you are to present documents for any reason, you have to go and request them with a newer issue date stamped on them.  It's ridiculous - I don't see any logic in that because my birth certificate has an issue date of 2017 on it and it's perfectly fine to use in the US.  The other oddity with documents in Colombia is that whenever there's a change in your marital status (i.e., you get married or divorced), they hand write that information on your birth certificate (either in the notes section or on the back).  So that's another reason for requesting a new birth certificate - we had to have our marriage notated on my husband's birth certificate in order for it to be valid for NVC and the interview at the consulate in Colombia.
