What is the actual timeline for citizenship these days? (Spouse of US Citizen)

I just sponsored my wife to come to the United States. (I am a US citizen)

She is having her consular interview in a few days, and will likely arrive in the US with her green card next month.

I'm wondering, how long is it actually taking nowadays for a spouse of a US citizen to become a US citizen?

I know they are eligible to apply for citizenship at 2 years and 9 months, but are there any catches here?

Anything I should know about?

I've estimated her timeline to US citizenship to be exactly 5 years, does this sound correct?

March 2023: Arrives in United States

December 2024: Applies for 10 year green card (Lift condition of provisional green card)

December 2025: Applies for citizenship

December 2027: Receives citizenship (After oath/civic integration test/English test)

Total Time: 4 years 9 months

Are there any ways to make it faster or expedite the process?

Timeline

She could join the Military

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

For lift conditions on green card she need be resident for 2 years, but she apply for lift conditions in 1 year and 9 months of be green card holder.

Then when she be 3 years being resident she can apply for citizenship, 90 days before 3 years her window open to apply.

If your wife get her green card on march then she  will lift condition on 2025 and be elegible for citizenship on 2026.

It's not 2 years and 9 months from the date the greencard was approved (or the date of entry, as in your wife's case), it's 3 years minus 90 days. Filing one single day too early will get the petition denied, so it's very important to understand the difference between 2 years and 9 months, and 3 years minus 90 days.

With that said, nobody can tell you how long it will take for the N-400 to be processed an approved. It differs a lot between field offices, between IOs and between petitions. In the beginning of 2021 when we were still affected by covid, my application took 10,5 months in Los Angeles, while other applicants who filed after me waited for only 5 months and became citizens before me, and others waited for well over a year. Same field office, completely different timelines.

The wrench in your plan is that it is currently taking a very long time (years in some cases) to approve the I-751 (removal of conditions).  While the N-400 can be filed on the schedule you presented, the N-400 cannot be approved unless and until the 751 is also approved. So, in other words, the pending 751 may cause a delay in approval for the N-400. Sometimes they are adjudicated together, sometimes they are not.  Hopefully, in a few years, this situation will improve.
