Welp I overnighted my I-751 application and it was received by the Phoenix lockbox today (signed by a "L Montanez").

My GC expires on 3/29 so I should definitely have prepared the packet in January, but oh well - here we are.

Hoping to get the NOA1 soon because I have international travel planned at the end of the month! (trying to get an InfoPass appointment to get I-551 stamp just in case)

Did you receive your i797

•    11/05/2022 – Reminder to file for I-751 received in the mail don’t ask why I filed it so late was chasing my lawyer around for the costs and the process didn’t get back to me until February I don’t know why I waited so long for him.

•    03/14/2023 – ROC (I called USCIS to get an update and told me the magic words “your case has been accepted” oh man I was so relieved to hear this I was jumping up and down I also got the receipt number for my case from them)
•    03/15/2023 – ROC (personal check was cashed and was posted on my checking account the same day I have never been so happy to see someone take $680 from my account ever in my life)

I used the message option in myaccount. Estimated response time seems to be 14 days for that.

Hi @annrose,

I called with tier 1 customer service and they created a ticket for an online account specialist callback or e-mail. Turnaround time was mentioned 7 days, but may be faster. Let's see how both methods unfold with the desired outcome. I also noticed that the "Upload Evidence" button does not work, and brings me right back to the case home page.

Hello Fellow Aliens,

Joining the mob. Please see my timeline below.

Similar to @annrose post today, my online account does not show notice documents, Did you use the message option in "myaccount", or did you file mail not received tab?
According to customer service tier 1, they are able to view 2 of the same extension letter 797NOA's, but I can't.

Also, i have only received the online account access document + biometric reuse documents in the mail. No extension letter in mail.

Let the waiting game begin!
Good luck to all!

I-751 ROC
Filing Location: Oklahoma
Lockbox: Phoenix, AZ (USPS)
Service Center: Texas
03/09/2023: Filing Date
03/10/2023: Receipt Date
03/15/2023: Text Message Received w/ IOE receipt# (RARE?)
03/17/2023: Personal Check Cashed
03/20/2023: Biometrics Reuse Notice Received in Mail
03/20/2023 Online Account Access Notice Received in Mail

Also wanted to add that as of:

03/21/2023: Received Official NOA with 48 month extension.

Never really thought of having to travel with 2 sheets of paper in addition to your expired greencard and passport would be so nerve wrecking.

reading this gave me anxiety 😭 I paid with credit card and was one of the few lucky ones it seems!! I used a credit card for every case I’ve sent so far.

So glad it finally worked out for you!

i PERSONALLY think that using a credit card is ok. The only regret you should have is not filing the case earlier. You had 3 months (as early as December 10) to file it and had less than a month when you filed it. You also should've notified your bank about an upcoming charge so they're aware. YOU SAYING "YOU WILL REGRET IT" by using the card tho when it's your late filing that actually contributed to it. Nothing personal just an observation. Nonetheless, you made it. Welcome to March filers hehe.

I did notify my credit card company capital one about the upcoming charge they told me there is no way they can pre authorize the charge or change their security system. I called twice and spoke to 2 different managers same conclusion. I even took their employee ID and the call reference ID for the recordings. The charge came in as "ELGIN LOCKBOX" there is no way you can predict if the security system will flag it or not you can just hope it doesn't. I am just saying why take the risk and be in limbo if your cc will get declined or not just use another payment method to be safe.

As for me filing it earlier I agree it is all on me in regard to that but even if you file a month ahead and have no issues with your payment the cases get accepted quickly especially if you make sure your package is scannable right away with no clips or anything else.

I reached out to my local HR team last week (big international company with 90k+ employees worldwide, HQ in Europe) to let them know that I have received the extension letter. Today, they said they went on the USCIS website and checked, and that they do not need the letter. No re-verification needed according to them. I told my HR rep that it would make me feel a lot better if they could add a copy to my file. HR rep said they would check again and circle back. For literally every job I applied for, there was a question in the process regarding whether or not I am legally authorized to work in the US. If an auditor comes in, what evidence would my employer still have that I am actually authorized to work here if they did not add the letter to my file?! I am just trying to not get fired ;)  What is everyone else's experience with that?

ROC Timeline:

2023-02-20: Mailed package to Phoenix Lockbox with UPS Ground

2023-02-27: Package was delivered

2023-03-02: Received text that case was received with SRC case #

2023-03-03: Money order was cashed

2023-03-09: Received 48 months extension letter in mail

2023-05-20: Greencard expired

2024-10-04: Case Was Updated To Show Fingerprints Were Taken

2024-10-07: New Card Is Being Produced

Your employer is correct, you only get I-9 employment eligibility verification once, when you join. As a side note, since you're an LPR, you only need to show valid driver license (or state ID) and unrestricted social security card to any future employer. No need to show GC and extension letters. This will make your life easier.

I agree with the credit card thing. If USCIS allows us to use them it is because it works ok, I never had issues with our card. Instead of making people freak out, maybe get a better card that can handle these types of charges.

The forum messages suggest otherwise. Even cards such as Chase Sapphire Reserve with $550 annual fee and Amex Platinum with $695 in my experience flag perfectly legit transactions as fraudulent from time to time. Do you have recommendations? My recommendations is to NOT use credit cards for USCIS payments and rely on tried and tested technology this old fashioned agency is familiar with - personal or cashier's checks. Just because something is allowed doesn't always mean it's a good idea to do it.

My capital one venture x has an annual fee of $395. What bothered me most is when I called this big company to pre authorize the USCIS charge they said they cant change their security system to do that and told me "rest assured the charge will go through". If you want to take the risk and have it get declined go ahead and use your cc. I have no intention to freak anyone out but I am suggesting and making others aware stuff like this can happen look how much stress I went through all because of the cc payment even though I have $15k credit limit on it.

this post is so helpful and answered a lot of questions I didn't know in the first place. A good read.

If you need to leave the country while i751 is pending better to get a stamp because if they approve you when you're outside the country, you cannot reenter the US without the new GC. and a lot more

"International Travel Prior to Receiving the New Card

During the period between I-751 approval and receipt of the new card, you will have no evidence of your current immigration status. If you need to travel outside the U.S., before departing the U.S. you should ask your local USCIS field office to provide a stamp in your passport evidencing your status. Such stamps are issued as a matter of discretion."

Unless you have an extension letter and expired GC, which is better than the stamp. The letter extends the validity of card by 48 months VS stamp is 12 months.
