How can I join my greencard holder girlfriend to the US.

Hello all,
I have been with my girlfriend for a few years now and we also live together, both Dutch. My girlfriend got a green card at a later age and therefore will be going to America soon.We are trying to figure out if there is a possibility for me to join here at some point? Could someone advise us on how to go about this?

you won’t be able to go at the same time as her. You need to marry first and then once she arrives in the US she has to file an immigrant petition I-130 in order for you to apply for a visa as an F2A (spouse of an LPR) later after the I-130 is approved and you pass the NVC stage.

When did she get her Green Card?  How long has she been out of the US?

IT Professional- Retired- Web Site Design, Hardware Maintenance, Compound Pharmacy Software Trainer, On-site go live support, Database Manager, App Designer.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

As mentioned, boyfriend of a green card holder has no family status.

 

Your options are to get married to the green card holder, and file as a spouse of the green card holder, OR file individually on your own merit for student visa, work visa, etc.
