Green Card Question

I have an American wife and two American children. They live with me in the U.K. (dual nationality USA and UK, they are not me. I am a U.K. citizen) I have lived in the states before, have an SSN, drivers license etc. However that was on a previous green card which I went through the correct channels and surrendered around 4 years ago when we moved back to the UK

We have applied for my green card via sending I-30, I will then go to consular processing in London after being sent to NVC etc.
My question… this is taking around 12 months and we could really do with being in the USA before this. Am I able to enter the USA and then adjust my status and transfer my filing of I30? Hope this makes sense. I think I know the answer is no, there is no correct way to do it, but thought I would pose it.

Thank you, really appreciate any help

Entering the US with the intention of adjusting your status is fraud. You will most likely have to wait out the process here in the UK before you can immigrate again.

Id recommend filing for US citizenship once you're eligible to do so. That way you can avoid this in the future.

Ok, I thought that was maybe the case which obviously I wouldn't do.

Yes definitely will go for citizenship this time!

Think my like it will take 18 months plus, not just a year.  The 1 year is just to get the petition approved so you can apply for the visa.  You will apply for an IR1 (not a green card) once the petition is approved.  Only after USING the visa to enter the USA, will you be entitled to a green card.

Worth knowing. My estimated time for I-30 processing is at 7 months, as per my USCIS log in. So I was thinking 4/5 months after that?

But will bear that in mind. Thank you

You might want to compare what you're seeing from USCIS with the timeline here on VJ.
