Filing too late?

The expiration date of my Green Card is Febr 23, 2023

I filed and mailed the I-751 on Febr. 22, 2023, so one day before it expired.

USCIS received the I-751 on Febr 25, 2023.

I enclosed a letter with an explanation with the reason for the late filing.

Am I too late?

I believe you're fine because:

1) You technically mailed it on time (1 day early)

2) You enclosed an explanation for the late filing

3) Your I-751 was received only a few days late

Out of curiously, what reasons did you include in the explanation letter?

HI,

Thanks for your reply.

My father in-law was in hospice since October.

From December 2022 his health was getting more worse.

At the same time the 90 days for filing started.filing before expiration date on Febr 23, 2023 had just started.

He died on January 27th and the funeral was on February 15th.

So with all those things going on, it was hard to file the I-751.

But my wife and me managed just before expiration date.

So sorry for your loss. But luckily, especially with that explanation, I believe you are 100% okay with the slightly late I-751 filing.
