Hello,

In my 2022-23, tax filing, my taxable income is 36K. As per the above 125% Poverty Guidelines criteria, (it is  coming about $22800+ for my state), I should be ok right?.  In my 2020 and 21 tax filing, it wasn't that much income.

I do have other assets in my home country and my spouse has  assets as well. Should I move those funds to my US account to show that I have enough in bank for Sponsorship?

Please advise.

Thank you

VJ

CURRENT income is king....not what was reported to the IRS unless you are self-employed.  Current income is determined by most recent pay stub for employees, not tax returns..

Using correct terms is critical here.  Your past income in the tax section is the number in the field labeled "total income".  If you are self employed, that may well be the same number as what you are calling "taxable income" but you enter the number from the total income line. If you ARE INDEED self employed, then that number from the latest tax return IS your current income.  If  you are "employed" then your current income does NOT come from a tax return.  It is calculated based on your pay stub from your "employer".  Please clarify.

Yes, declare and document your assets as your income appears somewhat marginal.
