Possible to get university student visa for fall 23 if process starts now?

My Romanian gf wants to study at a community college in Oregon. I have checked on their website, and it doesn't look like things would be held up by them. Is it at all reasonable to hope that if we apply now, that she would receive a visa to begin classes September 11?

Your profile and timeline shows K-1 fiance visa.  Is this still active?  If so, this shows immigrant intent and may hinder her chances of getting an F1 student visa.

 

The school needs to be qualified and will need to accept her and send her some paperwork.

That k1 was cancelled. And it's a different girl. My gf now has never applied for a visa.

The school is qualified and yes I realize she needs to be accepted there and fill out their paperwork. According to their site, it appears that the timeline is doable. My question is whether there is enough time from the uscis side of things. 

 

What I'm really asking is if a university student visa for fall 23 is even remotely possible if the process is started now.

Uscis has nothing to do with a student visa. The process is strictly with your girlfriend, the embassy, and the school. As long as she can get an appointment before classes start, there’s no reason why she won’t have enough time.

 

she has to prove she’s eligible for the visa and also prove ties to her country (just like any other non immigrant visa). She will also have to prove she can pay for her education assuming she does not have a full scholarship.

Based on your other post where you ask about a tourist visa, it seems as if she’s trying to shop around for a visa to cut the line and come to the US earlier than with a K1 or a CR1. At least that’s how the Department of State might perceive it, so she needs to be careful when applying, and be honest about her intent.

Thanks for that input. I will advise her not to apply for more than one type of visa. I don't know what she really wants to do, I'm just helping her explore some options. Since neither her nor I want to marry each other, K1 or marriage visas are not something she would consider, at least not with me, haha.

Is that right? The embassy is the only government entity that has any input? I guess she would use SEVP. It appears that that is part of ICE. Is that correct?

I don’t really understand your question. However, when it comes to student visas, USCIS is not part of the decision making process. There are other qualifications needed of course, but the decision is largely with the embassy.

I don't think you are considering a K-1 or a spousal visa.  I think you are considering something else.

Why do you doubt that? I don’t think she will get a visa for other reasons…but thousands of international students are granted visas to go to community colleges every year.
