Local Supermarket was offering $20 yesterday starting with a $3 winter bonus in addition. And benefits. I would assume it is more in CA. They have had the signs up for a very long time.

Literally every single place is hiring.  Costco is a great employer.  Locally, our dollar stores sometimes are closed due to lack of workers.

But one of the things you will need to prove is that you are able to support the immigrant. Could they support you from their country? How will it change if he comes to the US, considering it may take some time to find a job (and even longer if their English skills are weak)? If you plan on lining up a joint sponsor due to your lack of income, why is that person not willing to support you now if they are willing to support the partner?

Somewhat significant difference between Egypt and CA

Everyone is hiring. Are you unemployed because nobody will hire you or are you unemployed because you are being too picky? I would swallow my pride and do whatever job I needed to do in order to be self-sufficient (let alone trying to support another human).

And maybe consider moving to a cheaper state, you can get a job and be working in any grocery store in Arizona by the end of the week.
