Being alive is a choice but hey, here we are.

Suicide is illegal in some location (eh, it's a misdemeanor in Nigeria, in case you are wondering!).  Medical help to die is not available in most.  Living, and how you choose to live, are very different matters.

I think marriage is an outdated practice, but I still got married to be with the one I love.  Fight windmills, or get what you want - sometimes, the choice is easy.

Once you can show them you are truly in love and married for love and having bonding evidence of shared life, family and experiences, that’s what they wanna see

Make sure you tell them exactly this at the interview in Lagos and see what they say.

That’s coming from a place of privilege

No, it’s not. It’s coming from a place of choice. That’s what you get when you do long distance

I guess it is what it is, not an uncommon scenario.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Your wife needs to understand that it is highly unlikely the two of you will ever be together in the USA,  unless she finds a way to come and visit you for a few weeks before your interview.  You have a big reverse age difference and it seems she has a health problem making it difficult for her to fly.  This LOOKS to match a typical fraud scenario for Lagos, that can only be overcome with time spent together in person.
