Hi,

I had my interview on 25th Jan from Montreal consulate and I was issued a 221g letter and asked for my additional documents which includes original birth certificate, criminal record check and my passport. I submitted my docs via courier and my last case update was 15 Feb 2023 which has been updated twice but still is refused. what does it mean? is this positive or negative response? also, is it necessary to go every 221g case to AP process or some directly get changed to issued? please let me know.

Thank you.

It means they are working on your case. Every time they touch t, open it, update information the date will update. It's not either positive or negative it's progress.
When they are done it should change to READY then Issued.

that's not true. if you asked for an update of the case. Then you'll see "last updated" but the case still not touched.

search "Immigrant Visa Inquiry Form" + the city of the of the consulate/embassy.

Then file out the form.

My consulate is Colombo, Sri Lanka. I didn't find a form but did find an email address. I guess I have to email them instead of filling out the form.

Hi,

Thanks for the response. my case has been recently updated from "refused" to "ready". am I closer to be issued or it is just the documentation check and decision is yet to be made?

Hello, just to touch base with you. Was your visa later issued? In the same boat.

Also in the same boat and am inquiring. Can you please update your timeline friend.

Yes, my family is currently in the states. Visa was later issued, I was told to come to Montreal though to do some fingerprints again.

How much longer did it take to get the Visa issued? How many months?

Normally, it takes like 6- 8weeks after they receive the missing document before the queue gets to you again, if you were not issued during interview. Nothing you can do, you just have to wait the queue.

However, when they got to my turn, they discovered that they did not take my fingerprints well, so I was aksed to come back. They gave me another date close to 3 weeks again.

I went there, they approved the visa, and apologise, for having me come over to montreal again.

I got the visa some days later.

It just the wait that kills, believe me you will get it, its just time.

Thank you for helping with this information friend. Were you also issued DS-5535?
