K2 wasn’t added to the case?

Hello, our petition is at the Dominican Republic embassy and ready for interview but I seem to have an issue. When we got our case number from the NVC, it was a regular case number. After it got to the embassy the case number was updated and now includes a “01 SDO” at the end of the number.

I was under the impression that the same code was used for both the k1 and k2 but some people are now telling me that since the k2 was included in the i-129f that there should be two case numbers, identical but one ending in 01 and the other ending in 02.

I’ve already filled out the DS160 for both k1 and k2. When I tried to pay the visa fees, on step 6 where there is a choice to add others by name, I added the K2. Put all the info, Ds160 confirmation number, etc. everything was fine until the next page where it then asks for the case number for both k1 and k2. I put our regular case number for both but kept getting the error that there is no valid record for that case number.

After a couple tries, I’m now locked out of the website for 72 hours and cannot do anything until then.

so my question is, was there a mistake either by either the NVC or the embassy were they were supposed to add another case number ending with 02 for the K2 as there is only one case number ending with 01?

when I get access again to the website, when it asks for the case number again, do I have to include the 01 that was added to the case number? The 01 is not together with the rest of the case number, is followed by a space. Something like: SDOXXXXXXX 01

maybe I have to call the embassy and tell them exactly what I wrote here?

Enter the K2 case number -- same as the K1 case number but with 02 at the end, instead of 01.  If that doesn't work, contact the embassy.

That didn't work.

Removing the K2 and proceeding with just the K1 beneficiary allows me to proceed to the payment screen using the regular case number.
