Hi, First I want to thank everyone that showed up to the slumber party last night in support of mine and Wendy's husbands. Also, to all of you who sent us well wishes that were not able to attend, thank you for your thought's and prayer's.

Both of our husband's had the same woman for the interview yesterday, both of them said she was not a very nice person, putting that politely.

I finally contacted my husband at 5am. He was so distraught that he could not speak english well enough to talk to me, so he put his freind on the phone.

He was given a 221G letter. It states:

221G prohibits the issuance of a visa to anyone whose application does not comply with the provisions of the Immigration and Nationality Act or regulations issued pursuant thereto. The following applies in your case:

Your case is awaiting additional information from you and the petitioner. After the required documents are received your case will be placed under mandatory AP. It may take an average of three months to complete. You will be contacted when it is completed.

Please send the following by Aramex.

The petitioner's income does not suffice according to the US Poverty guidelines, Please submit an origianal, signed affidavit of support and proof of income from a joint sponsor with proof of legal status in the US.

You have indicated that you have no prior travel out of Jordan and that Tammy had never been out of the US before arriving in Jordan in January 07. You are requested to submit proof of a bona fide marital relationship not entered into solely for the immigration purpose. The petitioner should submit a notarized letter confirming her support for the petition and answereing the following questions:

How do you communicate?

In what language?

How often?

How did you meet?

How did you decide to file an immigrant visa petition?

So there you have it. Now we have to prove our relationship is valid. Wish I had thought to take that vid cam with me to Jordan.

I will let Wendy post what they said to her husband when she is able.

My life has been blessed with the love of 4 of the sweetest men in the world. James, Jonathan, Nicolas, and Islam, my sons and my S/O.

What the he ll!!!???!!!!

That sucks!!! AGH!!! I wish you good luck in getting everything together. Hopefully, once you submit that to them, they will get moving on it.

I'm so sorry. I was so upset when my husband's first interview went so badly. Then they put us in AP forever...but you do get out of it...someday.

Good luck!

Sorry to hear this news.

My best to you and your husband on getting everything together and mailed back in ASAP, and on an approval next time around.

Allah tries his chosen people through many hardships, but those who persevere through adversity, surrendering themselves before the will of Allah, shall be blessed with a superb reward.

-The Prophet Muhammad (SAW), as reported by Anas bin Malik

A time will come when the sky is torn apart; when the stars scatter, and the ocean drains away; and when the graves are tossed about, and laid open. At that time every man will be told what he has done, and what he has failed to do; and every woman will be told what she has done, and what she has failed to do.

That does suck. Do you think that these were questions posed to him by the CO that he was not able to answer to their satisfaction?

Ouch. Sorry to hear this, Tammy.

Seems they have concerns about the affidavit of support. Were you on the borderline of the requirements ? Also seems there may possibly have been a language issue. Do you think your husband may have been flustered by the questions at the interview ?

I know this isn't the result you had hoped for, but at least it's not a returned case. They're giving you the chance to provide more evidence. Several others have been through similar circumstances with Amman, and they came through successfully after submitting more proof. So just stay calm and focused (as you seem to be) and work on getting them the stuff they want as soon as possible.

Wishing you all the best in getting this straightened out very soon.

did you know you were low for the income limit? have you already arranged for a co-sponsor?

and what relationship validity proof had you already sent? did he have anything additional with him that he was allowed to show?

todays result sucks but at least it looks like they gave you some very specific steps to take to 'fix it'. Its better than them just sending it back to the US with some vague reasoning. I know at some point it REALLY sucks to have to prove your marriage to a complete stranger but try not to get too pissed and just take what they gave you to work with and do it as quickly as possible.

hang in there!

Tammy, listen. Find a co sponsor, then u will be okay with this, i already went in with one coz i knew my income was a bit low do a severe car accident that layed me up for several years. Also, to prove the validility of ur relationship, make copies of your chat records, any phone calls made to him showing the dates and time talked. If you used a phone card, that's not good but maybe they have record of all your phone calls to him with dates and times. He should have a photo album, copies of the airline ticket or receipt showing your entrance to jordan, also a copy of your passport, anything else you might have together. You have to show them that you have been in contact with one another showing the love and connection. IM me if you wish, I would be happy to help you.

For him to be investigated would be normal now, since they didn't believe he married you for the right reasons. So prove them wrong, let them do their advanced whatevers and wait patiently. I know how hard this is on you, but Godspeed, it will happen. Just cooperate, don't give up, don't show them that you want to give up. Just keep going and give them what they want.

"NEVER GIVE UP"

Of all the things I thought would or could go wrong, I never thought it would be the financials. I had submitted about 35 thousand in income and assets, and according to the USCIS website 29,5 is the poverty level for a family of 5, which is what we will someday be. Hopefully.

According to the lawyer, we had enough proof of a relationship. We had photos of the wedding and of me with all of his family. Photos of us together at Petra, and some of me with his neice and nephew. There were also about 12 letters I have sent to him in the past year.

So, now I am scrambling around trying to find anything and everything to send to them that will validate our relationship. IM"s, e-mails, phone call records. Can anyone think of anything else?

Would letters from friends and family of mine stating that they believe the marriage to be valid, and that I gained nothing financially for having married him ,help any?

The funny thing about our communicating is that I have always understoon every word he has ever said to me. I may not speak arabic, but I am learning, and his english is very good with me, and his writing is very proficient.

I wish I could have been there with him to tell them how "valid" our marriage is.

When I talked to him this afternoon he was reading the letter from the interview to me. When he got to the part about proving the marriage was not for a visa, he said.."Honey, I think this woman not believe we love each other" as if he had just realized that fact.

She also mentioned that she had an issue with the fact that we had married only 4 days after having met in the real world. Little does she know that I have always been a "fast" working woman. LOL

I submitted for further proof items that showed my married name, ss card, driver liscense, amended passport, car loan, pay stub, etc. I also sent copies of my life insurance showing him beneficiary as proof, health insurance cards where i added him to my insurance. I know some people have joint bank accounts. I submitted taxes where i showed i was filing married and with him on it (with tax id# on it). this shows you are married even if you are not living together for the moment. i also had cards and emails from family and friends saying congrats on my marriage. I sent all of this besides the regular snail letters, email logs, yahoo messenger logs, phone bills, travel itenary and photos. Hope this helps! Good luck and praying for a speedy review! Lisa

Do you have any cards? Birthday, christmas, etc...... Any cards that were sent to you after your wedding? And yes, you can take letters from people stating that they know you are living a valid marriage. Do you have any gift receipts? I know, I know, most people wouldn't have a receipt of that anymore but my husband kept a few receipts for stuff he bought me.

I can't think of anything else that you could bring. I brought emails, letters, cards ( I put sticky notes on them noting the date and occasion for the cards), pictures, boarding passes, gift receipts and that's about it. I had stacks of them and my clear envelope was pretty thick and heavy LOL.

Tammy, I am very sorry for the outcome but wife of mohammed is absolutely right, they are giving you a chance to submit additional evidence-NOT BEING RETURNED BACK! this is just a minor set back right now. Be thankful that they did not DENY and send it back! Just get the co-sponsor and gateher as much as u can concerning the PROOF of your marriage. If you converse with your husband on yahoo and your archives are being saved- FORWARD YOUR ARCHIVES to your husband and have him print them out to show that the two of you converse in ENGLISH. I am sure all will work out fine. I wish the best for you and your husband for a speedy reunion!!!

I am just surprised that they would now mention about the financial part, and why they would have not asked for this before. If you didnt meet the poverty lines, I thought they would have sent you an RFE for a co-sponsor.
