Good morning everyone.... I truly need your help.

 

I have a friend, who came from Cuba, he already did his finger prints, has drivers licence and restricted social security, he wants to apply for work permit, anyone knows what is the process that he needsto follow? and how to go about it?

To apply for an Employment Authorization Document (EAD) based on your pending asylum application under the (c)(8) category, you may file a Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, 150 days after you file your asylum application.

in the application they ask for green card number, which my friend does not have yet....

If they had a Green Card they would not need an EAD

well that is true, but I was just concerned because that is one of the questions in the form....

The number on the Green Card is indeed the alien number, but you get an alien number long before you get a Green Card.  The number should be somewhere on his receipt notice.

Alien Number appears on various documents, including immigrant visa, some student visas, Green Card etc. Does your friend have Alien Number? If not, there's nothing to provide.

Did he come under the new Humanitarian Parole for program for Cubans?

 

If so:

Applying for Employment Authorization

 

After you (the beneficiary) are paroled into the United States, you are eligible to apply for discretionary employment authorization from USCIS. To apply for an Employment Authorization Document (EAD), you must submit Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, using the (c)(11) category code with the required fee or apply for a fee waiver.

 

To file Form I-765 online, eligible applicants will access their USCIS online account at my.uscis.gov.

 

Applicants who are requesting a waiver of the Form I-765 filing fee must submit Form I-765 by mail.

i have another question... so my friend in Cuba was petitioned by her father since 07/2017.... its been 6 years and the case is stuck in NVC.... what can we do to get unstucked?

What visa category?  Is there a visa number available?

- Some old child of the 50's & 60's on his laptop 

 

Senior Master Sergeant, US Air Force- Retired (after 20+ years)- Missile Systems Maintenance & Titan 2 ICBM Launch Crew Duty (200+ Alert tours)

Registered Nurse- Retired- I practiced in the areas of Labor & Delivery, Home Health, Adolescent Psych, & Adult Psych.

IT Professional- Retired- Web Site Design, Hardware Maintenance, Compound Pharmacy Software Trainer, On-site go live support, Database Manager, App Designer.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..
